Am I the only one who thinks you could pull of some really interesting fighting scenes with a guy who can shrink and grow to extreme sizes in the blink of an eye?

Running at some guys,
they pull out guns,
he jumps,
they start shooting,
he quickly turns small (possible slo-mo effect),
dodging bullets (maybe jumps off of one),
he prepares to throw a punch,
while throwing said punch he turns the size of a warehouse.

With some good fight choreography and decent CG-effects, I can see it work.

Plus, I know as much about Ant Man as I used to know about Iron Man - and I ended up really liking that film!

So I'm just gonna give it the benefit of doubt.

Most people are looking at the movie from the wrong angle. Ant -Man is kind of a boring one note character in the comics. But as a movie it leaves you a platform to stage a modernized version of some of those classic 50's style SciFi movies with miniature people and giant insects fighting. That type of stuff many of us grew up watching on Saturday afternoons. Campy cheesy SciFi fun. But done with modern effects and production values. It could make for a fun movie (just one mind you, I doubt if it can support a solo franchise.)

I'm open to the idea of Ant-man. I didn't know what the hell the Guardians of The Galaxy were before DAT TRAILER. I always keep myself open minded.

I don't mind Antman, and aside from a few other factors, I don't think most people who really know Antman actually HATE Antman. He could easily add to the current science duo that is Bruce Banner and Tony Stark. 9(tho maybe it would be a tad redundant at this point) His power set is simple and that's alright, cause you can honestly have some pretty cool sequences with the whole shrinking and growing thing. He has a few interesting facets like his attempts at pacifism, putting his villains in a shrunken prison for recuperation, and later his seemingly almost split-personality issues that arise with Yellow Jacket.

Aside from the whole wife beating thing, Ultron, good deeds he tries to do that go wrong, Antman is an alright character,. He just not as widely known. I mean who the fuck REALLY cared about Thor before his movie came

But honestly, the movie itself doesn't sound like it'll be great and I know a lot of fans are pissed about one thing in particular.

The fact it appears they're gonna kill off Janet Van Dyme...you know, Wasp...one the original Avengers and another main female heroine in the Avengers?

Yeah, they're too not happy about that.

Also, since Gaurdians of the Galaxy came out and they at least made some attempt to recognize the Cree and other alien stuff, Marvel should really hop on board with establishing S.W.O.R.D. and characters like Ms. Marvel.

Also Black Panther. ssshhhhh, it can work, just believe.

Are we talking Scott Lang or Hank Pym here? If it's Pym, I can very much see a reason for his movie. If they're sticking to canon, then
It's going to have a direct tie in with AoU, as Pym was the creator of Ultron.
.

I'm really hoping for a Captain Marvel movie that ties in with GotG2.

Pym will be in the case, but from the looks of things it will be him directing Lang, who will be the one with the powers and the title.

The Ultron connection may not be there as well, since, though it probably would have happened had the movie been made in 2010, with it coming out when it is now it looks like it's going to be Tony who builds him. This is usually the case in universes where Pym didn't make him.

I thought that the movies were based on Earth-616?
I can't see how it would be hard to make Pym the builder, as AoU is coming out only one month earlier than Antman. They could easily just have Pym in AoU too. I love Iron Man, but this would be a great way to tie it in and bring new faces into the crossovers, canon aside.

So it seems that people don't like Ant Man for his unimpressive power set.
I just don't like Hank Pym. The only thing I like about him is that he's responsible for Vision and Wasp being around. I'm not over the moon about Scott Lang, either.

That said, I don't really care that the movie is being made, it doesn't bother me. But at the same time, I won't exactly shed any tears if it's canceled or fails out or is replace by someone I find more interesting (which is just about everyone).

They borrow heavily from the Ultimate Universe.

It'd be cool to see a pre-release tie in to a movie, but honestly, I'm glad Stark is behind it. Less Ant Man time, more Tony Time.

cause the majority of people are morons.

ant man's powers are size and mass alteration, he can be the size of an ant or climb the empire state building in a gorilla costume for a live-action portrayal of king kong.

but whats interesting about hank was never his powers, but his intellect and mental issues.
first off he is smarter then Tony when it comes to tech, and just in general cause Tony is dumb enough to bull-charge heavy hitters like Thor.

he is however a demonstration of the genius/madness coin, much of his early arcs dealt with him being manipulated, succumbing to drug-addiction, and even going completely off the rocker at a couple of points,
and of course creating a whole family of androids thats starting to follow daddy into the mountains of madness.

While the title can sound pretty ho-hum because he wasn't as fondly remembered as even Ghost Rider (I stand corrected by comicvine) but there's plenty that can involve him like introducing Ultron. I watched the trailer and while normally I hate movies and I wouldn't mind watching it if someone suggested it. I guess it has to do with the fact he's not in the top five favorite superheroes that he's getting all the "haet."

I think making a movie about Hank Pym at this point would be a lost cause. The most notable thing about him is that he created Ultron. Marvel has yanked that from him and given it to Stark. I'm not a fan of him but I do think he is more knowledgeable than Stark yet with that being said just bringing more intelligence and the ability to grow and shrink sounds boring. Yes he can control a swarm of ants but I'm going to be juvenile and say they have Hulk and Thor commands lightening, who cares.
