What's with all the L4D2 hate?

I just don't understand why some people keep bitching about Valve releasing another game. I mean, you guys are getting a new game, new characters, new weapons, new levels, a new story, new enemies, and possibly some new modes. So why exactly are you guys so mad at them?

People just feel that Valve are breaking their promise to the Left 4 Dead consumer by not supporting it in the long term (like Team Fortress 2) and releasing a sequel instead. Also its a departure from Valve's usual 1 game per 3-4 years tactic.

Its mostly just complaining for the sake of complaining in my opinion though, Valve has a amazing track record and obviously knows how to make games. I wish people would have some faith and just wait for Left 4 Dead 2 to turn out to be as awesome as its shaping up to be.

We don't actually know much about the game, so people are taking that as an excuse to project everything that could be bad onto it in advance.

It's because Left 4 Dead hasn't even been out for a year yet, most people think it's too early for a sequel, as well as the fact Valve still haven't released Episode 3.

I don't play L4D, but I've gather this is why people are angry about it:
1) Valve promised some DLC for L4D that never came.
2) Two games will presumably split the online multiplayer community in two, so it will take longer to, Idunno, get people to join or something.
3) L4D2 doesn't really feel like a sequal, more like an expansion.

Does that cover it?

People are concerned that L4D won't get any love once L4D2 comes out. Sure, Valve says they won't neglect it, but we all know promises are made to be broken.

I don't get why people are angry to get a game early from a company that usually takes a few years to make a new game. Plus Valve's games have always been good. It's like when Blizzard showed Diablo II, people were pissed that the art wasn't dark enough. They completely screwed the fact that a sequel to Diablo was coming out and decided to cry about the smallest thing.

I agree. It's not like Valve is gonna break into their homes, steal $65 from them and give them L4D2. If you don't like it, feel free to stick your fingers in your ears, ignore it all, and pretend it doesn't exist.

I don't want new characters, weapons or enemies, to be honest.
I don't hate the idea of L4D2, I will get it and I probably will enjoy it, but to me it looks like they're adding too much. L4D was fun enough, a few campaigns would have done I think.
And none of the new characters are as cool as Bill.

I need to start out by saying, I am not picking a side in this ridiculous feud. Both sides need to shut the hell up. Some people want to play it, some people don't, end of story. But I have to laugh when people defend L4D2 with the "new characters" and "new story" lines. The characters are just avatars. They have no effect on the game whatsoever and from what I can tell, people love the characters from L4D. And as far as a new story, if it's anything like the first one...there is no story!
