to anyone complaining about the lack of DLC, Valve has addressed that this game was going to be DLC until the sheer number of ideas they had became too numerous, and so L4D 2 was born.

People just feel that Valve are breaking their promise to the Left 4 Dead consumer by not supporting it in the long term (like Team Fortress 2) and releasing a sequel instead. Also its a departure from Valve's usual 1 game per 3-4 years tactic.
Well you know the Orange Box was 3 new games in a 3 year period. That was if I remeber either 2005 or 2006. 3-4 years later we get 2 games. Valve is still one behind it's new qouta.

Why did nobody mention this:
It takes part in freakin' daylight!
It will kill the whole atmosphere of the game.

I don't hate the game, and I don't hate Valve for releasing it. I just think there are far, far too many zombie games out now and coming soon. Dead rising 1 and 2, Resident Evil 5, the original Left 4 Dead, I mean come on! Zombies aren't that awesome, and I got tired of them after beating Dead Rising. I know they're releasing episode 3 for Half-Life 2 though, so I don't have any complaints.

It's because Left 4 Dead hasn't even been out for a year yet, most people think it's too early for a sequel, as well as the fact Valve still haven't released Episode 3.
when the devil is Episode three coming out, anyway?

I just don't understand why some people keep bitching about Valve releasing another game. I mean, you guys are getting a new game, new characters, new weapons, new levels, a new story, new enemies, and possibly some new modes. So why exactly are you guys so mad at them?
I need to start out by saying, I am not picking a side in this ridiculous feud. Both sides need to shut the hell up. Some people want to play it, some people don't, end of story. But I have to laugh when people defend L4D2 with the "new characters" and "new story" lines. The characters are just avatars. They have no effect on the game whatsoever and from what I can tell, people love the characters from L4D. And as far as a new story, if it's anything like the first one...there is no story!
To be fair, there is supposed to be some level of continuity and plot in the L4D2 campaigns.

And pretend there were no promises made and our money was wasted, because nobody will play the game a YEAR after release, because a "sequel" was released, with new weapons (;d), character skins, oh, sorry, new characters (like anyone cares about them) and maps, all could just as well be an EXPANSION PACK. You know, then it would be understandable.
Because when you want to change the AI and map dynamics, you can always just patch.

People are whiny bitches who feel that the content to be released in L4D2 should be, in fact, given to them as free DLC. They've been spoilt by the constant free updates from TF2, and feel that buy paying $50, they are entitled to ridiculous amounts of DLC that other developers would have you pay through the nose to get.

That's essentially it, in a nutshell.

I don't think anyone is expecting it to be free. In fact, most of the boycotters have said they would be willing to pay for it, if it were a DLC. They just feel it's too soon and not enough content to merit a full retail game. Again, not my feelings, just stating an observation.

It may also be because L4D felt pretty rushed and overpriced. The game had only 4 stages, not all of them were available for all the modes, and it was only online. I am not saying the game wasn't good, but it was hardly worthy of a retail price...

Now a "different" game that seems to be about the same size, innovation and scope is released a year after the original, and they are asking for a retail treatment too.

no it wont you are basically saying that a zombie ripping my face off in a dark bayou alley is scarier than in a parking lot at night.

either way, zombies are trying to eat you're brains and YOU STILL HAVE BLIND SPOTS IN DAY TIME

if anything seeing a zombie in broad daylight is good for the advancement of the series because it takes away from the vampire mentality.

At first I thought they were just adding new levels and melee weapons and I thought "Hey that sounds like it'd be easier to make as DC" I've since learned more about it and have changed my mind completely.

I agree with this. I often criticise sequels for being too similar so it's good to see some difference. Also the trailer struck me as just as scary as the original game, all those undead wondering around in the colourful city of New Orleans made it somehow just as creepy, as if it's an actual event and not a horror movie.
