I hate both four and five; I enjoyed the single player campaign on the games, but they are liked for thier multiplayer which I believe is too easy (I mean this in the least braggy way possible) and very poor.

I liked WAW the campain was good and I had a good challenge compleating veteran mode the online multiplayer I don't care much about since I don't play much online but is ok to play sometimes and Nazi zombies is a lot of fun I play it a lot COD 4 is better in the campain and the online multiplayer is more fun but WAW is a good game in it's own rights.

Because the AI is awful, the maps are linear, the multiplayer is broken, the graphics suck and the entire game feels like a giant step backwards in the FPS genre.
It does nothing well but a lot of things badly.
the word biased is awesome.

i think its the event triggers and the lack of the modern customization from cod4 that's got everyone worked up, but its still a great game!

Whats wrong with linearity, games like Half-Life 2 showes us that being linear can be a great way to play a game

Because people are tired of world war 2 games and want something new, like Call of duty 4 MW. But they went back to world war 2.

Because Nazi Zombies was fun and everything else sucked. Then Nazi Zombies got boring and everything sucked.

Honestly, the only thing that Treyarch learned since their last game, Call of Duty 3 (which sucked even harder, but let's not go there) was to stay away from quicktime events. On the whole, WaW felt less like an attempt to improve on COD4 and more like an attempt to just be COD4 all over again.

Treyarch for some reason though it would be a good idea to incorporate hard rock riffs into the soundtrack of a game taking place in the 1940s, before Rock 'N' Roll really existed. The only reason behind this that I can think of is that such music was well suited to COD4 in it's modern setting.

Also, those geniuses made their own version of the Thompson M1A1, despite claiming to have created the most realistic WWII game yet. How, you ask, did they do this?

Side Bolt + Triangular Sight Guards = M1A1

Top Bolt + Rectangular Sight Guards + Compensator + Mounts For Drum Mag and Forward Pistol Grip = (usually) M1928

Side Bolt + Triangular Sight Guards + Compensator + Mounts For Drum Mag = WHARRGARBL

They also made it more accurate and less powerful than the MP40, which is completely backwards. The .45 caliber round was significantly more powerful than the 9mm, but it generated a lot more recoil, and thus the real Thompson was more powerful but less accurate than the general German SMG. Apparently less power is the best way to balance a tiny magazine size...

Finally, my biggest complaint, is that the sound-effects for nearly every single gun were absolutely terrible. Apparently a gunshot sounding like a tiny, controlled explosion was completely off base. And so the boys at Treyarch decided to make nearly every gunshot effect sound like someone ever so carefully tapping two pieces of plastic together rather than detonating gunpowder to propel a bullet into a dude's face.

I guess I enjoy the game, but that's only because of Nazi Zombies, which I not-so-recently grew bored of. Now I'm just looking forward to Modern Warfare 2, made by Infinity Ward, the guys who actually know how to make a kick-ass war game.

i like cod 5 but holy shit their gross overestimation of the carbine was amazing they made a gun that was a substitute for a pistol better than the m1 real carbines have only the following advantages over pistols: more ammo better accuracy(sp) and longer range but my god they turned it into a super weapon

Why do people have this huge hatred for this game all of a sudden. Pretty much every one is saying is rubbish but I dont see whats wrong with it. Yes cod 4 is better I don't deny that but its still a great game.
I think that some people dislike it because it seems like a step backward for the series. Whenever a sequel doesn't live up to its predecessor(s), fans riot.
WaW is not a sequel to any real Call of Duty games. It's a sequel to COD3 at best. Which is not the real deal either. It's just junk made by Treyarch. Blatant cash-in on the name that was made famous by another dev team.

Theres nothing wrong with CODWAW, at least to me. It's just not COD4

One thing I really hate about CODWAW though is Hardcore!! Your teammates names don't pop up soon enough when you aim at them, then when you shoot them you get kicked from the match!

I though WaW was a good game. Then again, I haven't played a Call of Duty game since the first one came out on PS2.

The single player was ALOT more fun then COD4s multiplayer but other then dogs, COD4 has a better multiplayer.
Other then that they're almost identical except for the setting of the game.

the multiplayer is broken
Is it? I don't see how that could be, its the same as CoD4, isnt it?
I found that even though I had no problems with it, the fact that the person getting the most kills was the person who'd be getting the kill streak rewards. SO once you're ahead, you stay there as the game helps to keep you there.
This really, i played it at a friends house, and because i am reasonably talented at FPS games i got rank 1 in a game, and then got rank 7 the next. Its INCREDIBLY streaky. I think games should reward you for doing well, like TF2's crit system, but CoD W@W just flat out breaks it.

It wasn't even original enough to come up with new perks and weapon add-ons. The story/single player sucks. None of the characters were likeable at all like Captain Price or even Gaz. It didn't take any risks yet still decided to sell itself at full price. The only thing that held my attention for a little bit was Nazi Zombies, but than I realized I wasn't playing Left 4 Dead.

the only truly good thing is that all the noobs and a-holes have moved on to WAW while the true COD players are still playing modern warfare.

Like you said COD 5 suffers from little brother syndrome. He wants to be just like his big brothers especially Cod 4 who was the one he always liked playing with as he grew up, but COD 4 ended up becoming the star quaterback while COD5 was the punter... the back-up punter. When he realized that he wasn't good at football(next gen FPS) he tried to doing what his older brothers did baseball but everybody plays baseball(WW2) and nobody likes it because its overdone. It is not a bad game but he just blend in with the rest of everybody else and doesn't get any of the girls because all the girls ever talk about are his older brothers.

This isn't personal expierence just something i consider humerous.
