What's wrong with High School Musical?

Like you said, because it was okay. Yet despite that, it was one of Disney's biggest franchises and made millions.

I honestly don't care with the type of music they offered and I don't see the major appeal in it. The acting was pretty sub-par and the overall story never changed. Overall, it was just a "Meh" movie and I don't think it really deserves the praise it has gotten.

I felt physically ill after watching the HSM series with my cousins, who are hardcore Disney fangirls.

I hate musicals, and I hated high school (despite never being spoken to). Plus, it's simply not what high school is like at all. High school is tedious, brutal, crowded, ugly, and that's just the student body. I need to create new words about the administrators.

Well, guys, it's important to remember High School Musical is clearly geared towards young children, so all the fake "feel-good" nature of the films is clearly deliberate. I don't like HSM very much, everything bad about it has already been stated before; wooden acting, plain characters, poor Romeo & Juliet references, and so on and so forth. But, at least Disney are sticking to their values to providing clean family entertainment. If its "ghey" to you, well, fine, but just remember, guys... um, your adults or teens. You have better things to do, and bigger things to worry about (a recession fellas) than harp on a Disney franchise.

True, but my government claims our recession is "over" although I don't think so but whatever. Plus it's our downtime so we can worry about this stuff if we want. Does it matter? Not in the slightest.

The same thing thats wrong with Disney, it is a pathetic collection of idealism that gives you false hope and distorts reality when life is really a pile of shit.

So we should depress all of the children of the world saying that they will likely work at a Mcdonalds for the rest of their life and that everything everybody tells you is a lie? Let the damn dogs have their bone!

OT: I'm going to say I liked High School Musical, but I know it's a piece of shit. And oddly thats what I like sometimes. I like terribly made love stories, thats not to say I don't like other things as well but terrible love stories just get to me. Will I pay a penny for it? Fuck no! So I don't see the problem with it making money, it's Disney and they worked their bloody magic, little surprise to me really.

The singing... it just feels so cheesy. To me, the all the final fantasy games combined had less cheese.

Theatrically, they're great fun to the audience that has not mentally left high school yet. To the rest of us, that have realized that there is actually life beyond high school where you are guided by a completely different, nominally more sensible, set of rules, they remind us of a time when things were pretty fucked up. The drama, the anticipation, the "oh gods, what do they think of me" all fades away into a more stabilized set of thoughts. To have to sit and hear some preppy pricks sing and dance about how great life during that time is makes us want to eat an arsenic muffin.

High School Musical is one of those things that people pick on because it makes people feel unreasonably and unacceptably good about themselves and the world, and because this childish entertainment is not socially acceptable. I find it to be unbearably cheesy and fake-y. The music is catchy but a dime a dozen,the acting is annoying and is quite obviously pandering to the masses. Nothing worth while to mention. Did I mention it was god-awfully annoying? I did? are you sure?

I won't pull the "its disney" crap. BUT I'll pull the "its disney CHANNEL" deal because its so blatantly bad and exploitative.I love disney. I can thank it for my childhood which they now seem to be trying to systematically destroy.
