what's wrong with the prequels? mainly Anakin. Jake Lloyd (or however you spell it) is just as annoying as you'd expect an overly cute child actor to be. Hayden Christensen (sic) is equally annoying, but in more of an emo, angsty teenager way.

i've said before that while i originally hated Jar-Jar, i've realized with time that he was far from the worst thing about those movies. he'll never be one of my favorites, but at least he filled the role he was designed for.

the other thing i hate is that Lucas somehow got a brilliant, beautiful actress like Natalie Portman to act like a piece of plywood. and i cannot forgive that.

that's not to say i hated everything about the prequels. there were some pretty fun fight scenes, Liam Neeson was awesome (when isn't he?), parts of the story were well done, and Ewan McGregor was pretty good (in my opinion... but i know tons of people who violently disagree).

TL;DR: the prequels sucked because Anakin sucked, and because Lucas was able to force some shit acting out of excellent actors.

The new Star Wars ripped off my nostalgia glasses, fucked me in the eyes and left a disturbing substance encrusted on the parts of my brain where I keep my childhood memories of the original Star Wars movies.

I haven't posted on these forums in years. I have specifically gotten my password back to direct people to this:

Here, you'll find the first instalment of a series of video reviews that carefully and thoroughly explains why each of the prequel films fail so spectacularly. You may have the impression that they're the web-video equivalent of a long and boring film essay, but you'd be seriously mistaken. Instead, they are a series of sporadically insane musings by a character called Mr. Plinkett, a grossly obese, murderous lunatic with a strange voice and a craving for pizza rolls and kidnapping hookers. It is, without hyperbole, one of the greatest series of web-videos ever made, with a mix of insight and dark humour that easily rivals - if not trumps altogether - the best of what you'll find on this very website.

If you really want to know why the prequels are so terrible, hit play and bear with it.

EDIT: I know it's been posted already, but I feel like it needs a bit of introduction. The first time I watched it, I turned it off after five minutes, not understanding the premise and why the reviewer was speaking in that weird voice. Again, bear with it.

MY TAKE!!!
Episode one- Essential, but my least favorite, I like the all around cannon views it gives, but their is just not enough action in it for me
Episode two- YAY WAR!!! It is average in all other aspects, but I think the story is rather ingaging.
Episode III- A holy grail to me, one of the best movies I hath ever seen. But everytime i watch it i realize more. (I saw it in the 3rd grade when I saw it opening day!!!) It is a bit choppy, but always fun to watch.
This is why there is all this "strange hatred" for the prequels.

I saw the proper Star Wars films when I was like 8. You weren't even alive. This is probably why I prefer the originals.
