I'm a man of many voices. I was born and raised in the UP of Michigan, so I started with a Yooper accent. I went to HS in Wisconsin, so I developed the elongated Wisconsin accent. I've also lived in California for some time, so I've learned to choose my dialect depending where I am in the country.

Fucked if I know. I have been informed it languishes between Brit, Kiwi and Australian, though exactly whic bit of that grey area is up for discussion. Ask Nuke Lassic for more detail, or possibly Doki.
Yeah, I was never quite able to place your accent. It's nice though, kind of soothing.

Well, I'm from Colorado. I guess that gives me an American accent? We say mountain differently than most though...so we're kinda distinguished, right?
colorado for me as well. its certainly not southern, and I wouldnt really call it mid western, part of my issue is that most people in colorado springs are originally from somewhere else, usually california for some reason...

I am accentless. Being greek gives me the advantance of speaking english without a confusing accent. Drop a man born and raised in Yorkshire England in south Texas and he wont be able even to order a glass of water to save his life. Also only women should have accents

oh and for the record, an american accent is still an accent. there's this weird assumption that americans speak regular english while british and aussies have accents. its just two sides of the same coin.

So what exactly constitutes a Californian accent? Someone tell me. I would like to know.

I live in America, born and raised so i have no real accent. I live in Michigan and we don't have a Boston accent or anything. If i had to give myself one I'd say Apathetic. Most times when you talk to me i seem rather emotionless like i just don't care.

i live in america, specifically the chicago area. my accent makes most people think im from new york though. take the city of chicago. most people actually from chicago pronounce the name of the city "chi-caw-go" but i say "chi-cah-go". some people have seriously asked me where im from. and according to my mom, this was even worse as a kid. ive never even been to new york. but whats really wierd is that im starting to sound slightly british/australian lately (though apparently im the only one to notice). maybe its because the only tv show i really watch is monty python on bbc. or maybe its because of zero punctuation.

I'm sorry to bother you, but I'm a real sucker for capitalization. ^_^

I've got my South African accent, and judging from the time I've spent in the UK I'll probably die with it. I seem to pronounce English better than the inventors of the language, which amuses me greatly.

First of all, everyone has an accent, even Americans. It might be bland, invisible to the speaker and so on, but it is still an accent.

Now, on-topic, I, like a surprising number of other Escapists, speak with a Sydneysider accent.

My accent is pretty Canadian. There are a few British-isms in there, but its mostly Canadian. I've also been told that my accent can sometimes become pretty mid-western, but I don't hear it really.

Chicagoan. Which I would imagine is some localized version of midwestern America where we call soft drinks "pop" and despise ketchup and demand that all our relish is neon in color.

I have no idea either, but apparently you can identify a Chicagoan by accent.

I've got a rather mild North Dakotan accent with a hint of Canadian. It's not as bad as "Ya sure ya'bethca!" like some of my relatives, but it's close.
