My accent is central Texas. This doesn't mean i have a drawl and talk like a cowboy this means that I don't have any significant accent and so that is the accent. it's like a black hole, you know it's there cause nothing else is

Whenever I meet someone new they immediately ask me were my accent is from and I don't really have an answer. Some people say it's an American accent while others say it's British. My brother claims that it's British- French but I don't really believe him.

I spent from birth to kindergarten in the south, then the rest of my life in urban Maine, if I get really angry, I slip into a bit of a southern accent. But normally I speak with a slight Canadian accent, no idea why for that one. However, when I am feeling superior, I speak with a bit of something else, I would say English, but I really don't know how most English people speak.

Everybody has an accent. Saying that you dont doesnt even make sense.
I've met people from many, many different places.
As someone who enjoys and is good at mimicking accents, I've often asked after mine - so far, most everyone has just shrugged and said they didn't notice one.

Of course, they might've been wrong, or maybe they weren't paying as much attention to me as they should have.

Can most people tell they have an accent? I think it is pretty common for people to assume they have no accent, and that everyone else does. I am from Kansas, and think I sound normal, but am sure people from the northeast or south think I sound much different.
This is also true.
But no. To put it confusingly... even if you didn't have an accent, that would be your accent.

Really it all depends on point of view. You may not think you have an accent, but a person with a different accent would say that you do, and may even think that they themselves doesn't. But everyone has an accent. Your accent is just how you pronouce your words.

Assuming that you actually talk, you have an accent.

Well, I probably speak English with a Portuguese accent. When speaking Portuguese... well, I don't think I have an accent.

I was born in Michigan and for some reason have never picked up an accent. It's a curious thing, but I have yet to meet someone from the Midwest US (that did not move here from somewhere else) that has an accent.
Please, please, please, for the good of The Escapist community, and humanity as a whole, tell me that was sarcasm. If it is, kudos, if not, please try to be less ignorant.

Canadian... eh?
I don't really think I have an accent, and people I've talked to out my country haven't been able to discern anything, so I have no idea.
Although, I do say "eh" a lot, so who knows.

I speak with a southern accent despite the fact the farthest south I've ever been was northern New Jersey (can thank my inbred redneck parents for that one and my mother's blasting of that god-awful country music.) with a twist of urban New York City. Add the fact I talk really fast and often mumble and you got a mess of garbled of who knows what the fuck.

As you said everyone has has an accent, but technialy an acent is just a comparison. So if you have a "neutral" accent compared to where you live then you have "an" accent compared to where someone els lives, simple as that.
