I'm going to be bold and say that this entire generation has been a disappointment. Games these days are extremely overhyped and are interesting ideas, but execution seems to be a problem for most developers. Games like Assassin's Creed and Army Of Two, which looked very promising in all the media they released, but the end products were very mediocre. I have to say this is the worst generation to exist so far, with so many lackluster games being released that just aren't fun or fun for too long. GTAIV was the greatest thing ever for all of two weeks. It seems the only games that really have kept me interested were Mass Effect and Gears Of War, both of which i play alot of these days even though they have been out for quite awhile.
I mean even dependable serieses like Call Of Duty aren't as good as they once were. Yeah yeah, Call Of Duty 4 was good and whatnot, but compared to the original, it was nothing.
In my opinion, last generation was as good as it could get. The huge jump in graphics from PS1 to PS2 was simply amazing. Plus there were titles such as Halo 1, Splinter Cell, KOTOR, Metal Gear Solid 3, etc.
I've been thinking about this issue alot lately, and it's making me go back and replay older games now. The other day i played Fallout 2, and enjoyed it sooo much. I had never played a Fallout game before, me only being 15, and it was the most fun i have had in a long time. I think that i will continue to go back and play relics to tide me over until something good comes out and digs this generation out of its grave.
Sorry if i got a tad off topic.
