I believe that religion should be banned from any form of education and kept only to it's temples and what not. That those places of worship should be taxed and that the government should be completely secular.

EDIT: Also all drugs should be made illegal including tobacco and alcohol.

once again another person has jump to conclusions.
i never suggested a tyranicle rule, i never suggest fascism, i never suggested the inability to protest a law, i merely started that when a law is passed, you should follow it, if you are opposed to it then you oppose it with the means the system provides.

laws are at their core, there to protect people, your example is not that of law, yours is an example of power, they are two very different things, law is a system that governs, it belongs to no one man and must always be there for the greater good, if you choose to ignore a law, then you should be punished as far as is possible, but pay attention to that last bit, "as far as possible" thats the important bit. people shouldn't be given preferential treatment, nor should they be unfairly represented, everyone should be susceptible to the same except for circumstances the law recognise.

you also draw a distinction between "them" and "us" im assuming what you mean by that is them in power, us not? if so then your right, "us" will never be in power as if we are we will become "them", there is no difference between them in power and those not, each effect the other and the line it self is not that clear
1. For the greater good? Mate, if you can provide me with any evidence or logical explanation that there is such a thing then I would welcome it. So far I have seen nothing of that sort.

2. If laws are to protect people from themselves then we should just give up and shoot ourselves right now. People pass laws to protect people from people and hire people to punish the people who broke the laws that protect people. You might be able to see where I'm going with this.
If we can't take care of ourselves no one else can.

3. The "them" and "us" bit was to emphasize how political powers have been cut from the rest of society. You never see a regular Joe driving around with five security cars surrounding him to make sure he's ok. Same goes for celebrities, and to my eyes it's no longer cute, just mad, makes no sense.
1- greater good is merely a term for best possible outcome, laws prevent anarchy, this is the best possible outcome. however from your pessimistic outlook it seems it would be futile to try an argue this aspect any further.

2- people cant take care of themselves, thats why systems are inplace to protect, to help stem the abuse of said system, laws are implemented, these act as deterrents and methods of reform, if they were nor in place, then it would merely become anarchy, however looking at your past ideological claims, I can see this is not an issue that bothers you.

3- you once again missed the point, to separate people into those two categories is futile if you then claim that power should change to another, this does nothing but maintain a shift, also the average joe has less to worry about then those in the public eye, they have a greater influence on people which is just as likely to be negative then it is positive. also not sure why celebrities and security cars are being mentioned, they have little to do with political power and almost nothing to do with laws

I think that neo nazi groups and other folk like the Westboro baptist church have a right to say their piece. Even if it is incendiary hate speech and the furthest thing from actual democratic discourse.

I'm also a gay Jew.

Where to begin?

I think Halo is fun. I think there are way too many shooter games out there, but don't think we should hate the entire genre for it.

I think that Star Wars episode 3 is better than episode 6 (but episode 3 isn't better than episodes 4 or 5 for clarities sake). Also, I think that the prequels in general get way more hate than they deserve. (And I think they deserve a ton of hate because of Jar Jar.)

I like the 2nd amendment. Alot. (not enough to actually own a gun, but that is just because I am clumsy and/or would probably lose it eventually)

Way too many people use "white guilt" nowadays. I know that a lot of bad things have been done to minorities by white people, but jeez : it was not me hurting people (or you specifically, theoretical person that is trying to make me feel guilty), so I shouldn't be told to feel guilty for it.

I think we should stop worying about helping children who are bullied because of their sexuality specifically, and just worry about helping children who are bullied in general.

I enjoy pop music and loathe rap.

I enjoy Michael Bay movies. Sometimes I don't want intellectually stimulating movies. Sometimes I want to watch stuff explode Baysplode. Although, there is no justification for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen; that was just aweful.

I think that if it uses a similar animation style and similar tropes to anime, it should be called anime. No matter where it comes from.

I will edit more in if I think of any.

Morals and ethics have no place in science and that progress for progress sake should be encouraged rather than discouraged, moral questions only hold us back.

An example of this would be Golden Rice, a rice that is rich in vitamin A genetically engineered and therefore baned form consumption and production.

thousands of people dying of vitamin A deficiency to appease busybodies who claim genetic engineering is evil.
There was a time when morals and ethics in science were much lower than they are now.
During that time Tobacco was promoted as healthy, and people were told that you could survive a nuclear blast by ducking under your desk.

Oh and remember those jolly folks the Nazi's who regularly performed science with no moral or ethical concerns? How would you like to live in a world where YOU could be pulled off the street and experimented on just because?

OT:-
Rap/Hip Hop and Contemporary black culture is responsible for the dumbing down of the Western nations who have allowed this cancer to infiltrate.

Well, I AM a hardcore individualist. I believe that the good of the community should never be put above the rights of the individual without a mass vote.

Although, I do believe that a persons rights are directly proportional to their ability to make a moral, ethical, and logical decision. (Aka, the development of the frontal lobe of the brain.)
I believe that with the first heart beat a child gains the right to life, when they are 13 they gain the complete right to liberty, and at 18 they gain the complete right to property.
Age of Consent 13?
Yikes.
Agree about referenda before impinging upon rights, though, very much.
Actually I was considering the body as ones property during that example and I was being very general. You could probably find a whole bunch of examples that I do not agree with based on just that sentence. Sorry for not making it clear that it was a general example.

I sadly won't mention the second opinion of mine because I believe that it would be too controversial, even for this place.
Agree completely, more people died in the name of god than Mr. Hitler.
Sorry if this has been quoted and said before, but Hitler was catholic and he did what he did in the name of god, so technically what he did was kill people in the name of god.

I think (ethnic) Jews are physically inferior to the other races, because of their unfortunate condition of having been persecuted for the past 2000 years and practically being forced to inbreed and take jobs that pretty much don't require anything physical (which kind of took away the natural selection).

We are left with a race that is VERY prone to hereditary diseases, not genetically tall and not genetically strong.

This does not affect my judgement of anything or anyone though, as you don't really get a choice of which body you're born in so I think racism is rather stupid.

It knows it's only a model for behaviors you can go and witness yourself. Bible claims absolute truth. Not even in the same ballpark, You're comparing apples and oranges. (And saying they both taste equally orangey)
I know it's supposed to be controversial, but so is saying Obama is Chinese. Because it's just stupid.
Yet everyone treats it like absolute truth, and I dare say there's more people who believe fully in evolution than there are believing fully in the Bible.

That said, take a deep breath and count to 10 please..

no Hitler was not a catholic, what he did was use the church as a way of controlling his public, at the time of Hitlers election as chancellor and then subsequent ascent to dictatorship religion was a very big thing.

what he wanted was to be worshiped like a god and catholic was in the way of that, he actually set p his won personal religion to get people away from catholic
Dude he said that he was doing gos work/will in executing the Jewish people and the Third Reich's oath was to almighty god, before it was to Hitler (Same oath god mentioned then Hitler mentioned, not a changed oath), have you even read any of his book?
Hitler was a religious man.

EDIT: On the belt buckle of every Nazi it also said "God on our side"

AAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Is this a real post or are you one of those oh-so-admirable super-trolls? Christianity was invented by romans. The Pauline doctrine bears no relation to the message the 'jesus' apparently spread. You know, about there being 'one god' instead of three gods?
If god is omnipotent and omniscient why did he change his mind so often? How come he couldn't see Adam & Eve in Eden?
If he is all loving why create hell?
There is no concrete proof against it because every notion upon which it's founded is bullshit. You can't have concrete proof against the flying spaghetti monster. It's just obvious that its bullshit.
I would call this pretty concrete http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6THwSYY_aU

He said that it was God's will in Mein Kampf because that was the best was to get people to agree with you back then. Once he actually came to power, he established a Concordat with the Catholic church, which he eventually broke.

After this he established the German Reich Church, which was based on pagan beliefs. It's symbol was a Swastika and its only purpose was as a source of Nazi propaganda.

It probably would.

However, no problem that we currently face is great enough that wiping out 75% of the human population is preferable to just living with the problem until we find another solution.

I dunno if it's controversial or not, but I think there isn't enough love in the world. And this so called "progressive society" we live in, is, in some ways, no more progressive than it ever has been 10,000 years ago.

I believe sex is a special, meaningful act that you should share only with the person you are married to. I get some really weird looks from people when they first ask if I'm a virgin and I say yes, then they ask why and I give them that answer.
The fact that I believe in God also seems to be rather controversial, at least on this site.
Prepare for an excrement storm of hatred on this site. Many people on this site automatically demonise you as soon as you say you believe in God or Jesus, because they automatically associate you with every single bad thing done by human beings in the name of "Christianity". I personally hate all those things as much as anyone, and I can't stand religion or Christianity as much as the next person, but I still believe in Jesus.

Actually dis-regard that above, that's my controversial opinion.

I have several. Then again, I'm a Liberal, Pagan, Bisexual female living in the bible belt.

1) The US is NOT a christian nation. It's right there (several times) in the Constitution. People refusing to believe this does not make it false. No religion, or it's beliefs, should be taught in schools. No religion or it's beliefs should be allowed to dictate law. No religion should have carte blanche to to shit talk and demonize any other religion (or atheists.)
I agree, the US is post Christian and should offer freedom of choice. I don't think it should ban religious teaching in schools, but should provide a fair and balanced approach to teaching all faiths; therefore people have a balanced view.

BabyRaptor said:
2) Illegal aliens should be rounded up and shipped back to where they came from, and border security needs to beefed to the max. I lived in Sanctuary City (AKA Houston, Texas) most of my life...I've seen what these people do. The "they just come here for a better life" story people use to pull heart strings is a total crock. Also, while we're at it, get rid of citizenship upon birth. At least one parent MUST be a citizen.
I agree, immigration, while good for the immigrants trying to escape a bad country, is bad for the natives in some way. I think that instead of housing them all in our good countries, we should be doing more to help the bad countries become at least okay.

BabyRaptor said:
3) Free speech needs relooked. I understand the importance of the law, don't get me wrong. But when you have Faux Noise brainwashing a good chunk of the country like it does and hiding from any and all punishment behind the First Amendment, or Westboro Baptist being completely immune from punishment for the harm they cause people...No. There needs to be a way for other citizens to hold these people, and any others who would abuse the power, accountable.
I dis-agree here. Should people always have the right to voice their opinions? Yes. Should I or YOU have the right to disagree with them? Absolutely. But I do agree the intrinsic issues brought about with this ideal, mainly epitomised by the Westboro Baptist Church (whom I am wholly and utterly opposed to).

BabyRaptor said:
4) Stop thinking your beliefs trump my rights. I should be able to marry any consenting adult I want. And the only other people who should have any weight in a decision over my body are the guy involved and my doctor.
I agree, there should always be a choice and it should always be made freely.

BabyRaptor said:
5) Tax churches. They long ago stopped adhering to the "No political preaching" rule. And on that note, NO TAX DOLLARS for "faith based initiatives." If you can piss and moan about your tax dollars going to my healthcare, I should be able to deny you mine for your religious shit.
Many churches are not taxed because they act as a charitable organisation. The church I go to is one of these churches, they do charitable things in the local community every day of the week. I think that churches who cannot sufficiently prove themselves doing charitable outreach to their community should be taxed. But those who are acting as a charitable organisation should receive the break.

BabyRaptor said:

Please don't take my responses as flaming, it's simply my thoughts. At the end of the day, you're incredibly switched on. By the way, if anyone ever tries and guilts you into/out of something in the name of "God" or "Jesus" or "Allah" or whatever, they are not acting in their respective Gods' name. As far as my faith teaches, we are loved unconditionally and are free to choose our own destiny, so just go about whatever you want to.

i think its really lame how all these kids here can think of to say here is OMG I HATE CHRISTIANS RELIGION SUX when asked about a controversial opinion.
Maybe that's because their only experiences/perceptions of "Christianity" have been incredibly negative. I can't stand Christianity, yet I still believe in Jesus. Shed the names, labels, PR and the perceptions and just get to the raw stuff of Jesus' teachings; all you find is pure love. And it can be hard for people to see that if the only 'Jesus' they've known was abusive, judgemental, cold or just plain nasty; and lets face it, there are many who claim to be 'in with Jesus' who are utter assholes. I can't stand what they do as much as the next person, trust me, I know a few.
