In my humble opinion, a show's only as good as it's ending. And there are some anime out there that suffer when it comes to wrapping up their story. Inuyasha was a rather painful example of an anime just sort of... fizzling out slowly.

So, out of all the anime that you've seen, what are your favorite endings? It doesn't have to be just one show. For instance, there are two shows that immediately come to mind when I think of amazing endings. They're both awesome, but for very different reasons.

- F-Zero Falcon densetsu (you may know it as GP legend) has easily the most epic ending ever in anime history.
The epic of this ending may just melt your brain.

-Code Geass as a whole was a really solid show with a great story, but the ending was undoubtedly a crowning moment of amazing.

Lelouch plans out his own assassination after rising to power in order to make himself an enemy to the entire world. As such, everybody is unified in hatred of him. So when he is killed, there will be a peace like none known before.

... So, what do you guys think? I'd like to hear about the anime that you've seen with the most awesome endings. (Remember to add spoilers)

Code Geass definitely had the best finale a show could have. It exceeded expectations and I consider it a flawless conclusion.

Evangelion, HEY OH!

... Trigun, simply for the symbolism in the last few scenes, as well as the epic fight, and finally for the resolution, no openings left.

I recently watched that show because it has near universal praise and what the hell internet. Do you guys like being depressed? That was the saddest show ever. Watching it felt like my emotions' balls were being run-over by a steam roller. I mean yeah ok it was funny at times but the second season in particular was just like "BRACE FOR IMMINENT SADNESS!"

I must agree with the Code Geass ending.
It is on a par with the Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai ending for me.
Plus the fact that
Lelouch survives.
makes it even better.

Congratulations!

OT: Cowboy Bebop - It's just so sad.
Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni Kai - It's just so happy.

Oh and Umineko no Naku Koro Ni! (Obvious joke)

Seriously that show was impressively terrible. I'm amazed that I actually watched every episode, thinking it'd get better and make sense like Higurashi did.

The ending of an anime is my favorite part regardless of the anime :D lol...

on a more series note...i think Triguns was the most memorable because of how great of an anime it was. one of the few animes that you could actually feel the emotions from the characters.

Yeah, that's how it's intended to be. You're supposed to be dragged down into such sadness you will get a new view on life.

OT: Clannad definitely had a good ending. Code Geass as well.

Hmm, can I just say happy endings in anime on a whole? There are far too many for me to specifically name one... though I suppose Kanon's ending was pretty good... then again I liked the ending to the first series of zero no tsukaima... so many choices...

Hitman Reborn ending 14, god I love it. Tsuna looks really cool, at the end.

Also this.

Another one of my secret anime shames, is that I love this dance and the song. (It's just so cute and catchy.
