My favorites are Elfen Lied, Lucky Star, Cowboy Bebop, Toaru Majutsu no Index, Shakugan no SHANA, Toaru Kagaku no Railgun and Gurren Lagann. My favorite is probably Toaru Majutsu no Index though.

Definitely Code Geass as my favorite. I haven't watched anything as engaging and intelligent as CG in a long time. Oh, and Noein was also fantastic. And, if not obvious, I loved me my Saki. Mahjong has never been more interesting. :D
And although not my fav, Monster was just... gripping. And quite a change of pace. Good series, that one.

One Piece, for showing me that a pirate is like a hero... a man that knows hes free!!! Also i loved theyre adventures!!!

Cowboy Bebop, for showing me the soul of a great show, in plain sight to all its viewers!!! See ya Later Cowboy!!

Soul Eater, not the ending episodes (cuz those suck), for showing us that more than soul we need courage!!

Toradora, because im a sappy wuss!!! and i liked those series a LOT!!!

Full Metal Alchemist (not the brotherhood), for sharing us such interesting story, with corruption, betrayal and hope!!

Envagelion... to this day i did not understood what you were all about, since in the time i saw you i was a little kid.... but giant fighting robots FTW!!!

Samurai Shamploo, for combining the art of fighting with the art of music in a perfect balance!!!

Digimon, 1st Season only, because i was a kid, i loved it, and it teached me that giant t-rex with metal helmets are so freaking cool!!!

It's hard to say

I watch a new series every 2-3 days so it keeps changing.

The most recent highly recommended anime would be Needless.

Claymore, Hellsing Ultimate, Black Lagoon, Elfen Lied... the list goes on, and on, and on...

Ergo Proxy. I don't know what it is about Ergo Proxy that clicks, but after every episode my mind just goes reeling. Not a second is wasted, each episode is packed full of stuff that almost never falters. The setting, the characters, the storyline, it all fits together perfectly and I have no idea what they're doing right. I just love it ^^

Serial Experiments Lain... seriously it's the second coming of Jesus go watch it now...<.<
By the way, I did end up watching that. Now I'm really confused and have no idea whether or not I liked it. The first 11 episodes seemed like a boring trudge of Lain having no personality whatsoever, some irrelevant monologues about Roswell or something, and that scene where Lain can be seen through the clouds, all of which I just hated. Then the last two episodes came along and gave me a sense of mindfuck, and for once added something to the storyline. The ending was brilliant, but that's pretty much the only thing that was. I don't really get what you liked about it so much, maybe it's just conflicting opinions but whatever xD
Well I loved the story, the pacing and intrigue present throughout the show was enough to make me watch it all in one sitting... and the fact that the show makes you think, and not in the sense that it doesn't tell you things or requires a PhD in psychology and religion from the university of smartass, but answers all of your questions with more questions if that makes any sense to leave the plot open enough for interpretation but tight enough to be understood by someone who doesn't give a crap what Lain's bear suit is supposed to represent... It's really something you need to watch several times to understand... and actually I didn't like then ending that much it shows how much of the show they had to cut since the second season was canceled during development of the first...

I really connected to Lain as a character and I thought she was decently characterized and developed throughout the show... she is very reserved, skeptical and hesitant in social environments much like a shy and uncomfortable kid might be... I also liked Masami Eiri a lot as the main villain mostly because despite his plan of, you know, destroying the barrier between the real world and the wired to usher humanity into the next level of evolution and be herald as a god for his effort, when it comes down to it he's just a disgruntled office worker... though pretty much all of the side characters were interchangeable blank slates...

And finally the presentation was great the distinct art style by Yoshitoshi ABe really added to the atmosphere of the show... and the soundtrack is one of my favorites... done by the guitarist of R/C Succession, Nakaido Reiichi, or something... even if it was hardly present in the show each piece was very well made and implemented to great effect in the show...

Gunsmith Cats too bad it was only a 3 part deal. I mean it had hot girls, guns, muscle cars and lots of action what not to like?

When I'm in a bloodthirsty mood: Hellsing Ultimate
Reason: Because it's fucking awesome and gory as hell.

When I'm in a perverse mood: Girls Bravo
Reason: It knows that it's a ecchi show and runs with it to a glorious degree

When I'm in a serious/happy mood: One Piece
Reason: It's mature enough to handle serious themes while also being able to have fun with itself.

When I'm in a pensive/happy mood: Yu Yu Hakusho
Reason: See reasons for One Piece

Eh, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (Specifically Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai, the second season) is my favourite animé.
Very close second is Code Geass.
Oh, why Higurashi is my favourite? Because I like it. Can't really explain why, I just do, so it just is my favourite.
Rena Ryuguu. That's why.

However it holds nary a candle to REC. I'm not sure why I like it. Its short, sweet, excellent characters, and a well thought out plot. If I ever get to watch Outlanders it will undoubtedly take first place as it is by far the best thing I've ever read.

OT - Fooly Cooly
I love my Beebop, Trigun and Geass but it's gotta be Naota & Haruko for the win.

It's tough for me to pick my favorite series, it's got to be between Katangatari, Spice & Wolf, and Mushishi.

Film? Summer Wars, hands down. God damn that film is good.
