Question is simple, name your favorite quarter-popping fighting game!

now, because I'm guessing they're be a ton of "MARVEL VS CAPCOM 2" I'm going to ask you to please name your top THREE fighter games

(kudos to the first person to name the 1994 rareware fighter that had an announcer phrase that became a meme)

I always liked tekken tag, but I think I'm going to give Marvel v Capcom 3 a go, though I never really figured any of the previous iterations out.

I never go to arcades, so I have no clue which games had arcade runs. So, I'll just list my top 3 fighting games.

1.

POWER STONE

Who needs blocking? This game didn't!

2.

BLAZBLUE
So how are you doi-INFERNO DIVIDER!

3.

STREET FIGHTER

El Fuerte Giga Buster!

I'd make Power Stone all 3 entries, but that'd be wrong.

Mortal Kombat can go fuck off and die in a corner, it's such a horrible series.

Arcade Fighters:

-Guilty gear
-Blazblue
-Killer Instinct (do i get a cookie?)

Top 3 overall favorite fighters:

-Dissidia
-Guilty Gear
-Blazblue

Arc System works kicks major ass when it comes to fighters. Capcom may have revolutionized the genre, but Arc perfected it.

I like Power Stone 1 better than anything. Didn't get much time with 2, as the PSP collection had the worst loading times I'd ever seen.

Yes you got a cookie, but it was later revoked for the MK comment

lol just kidding yes you get your cookie

I like Mortal Kombat personally, but it's more of a violent watch blood fly game then a balenced out fighter like... street fighter or anything else by capcom lol

the way I see it, Mortal Kombat (I refuse to accept the new "fighting style" ones as MK fighters) is just a simple fighter anyone can pick up that boils down to who can OWN the other person with a better more fun to watch fatality

now if I didn't have the "Arcade" constraint on here I'd porbably have a DBZ game on my fighters list

Never actually played an fighter in an Arcade. I'll just list my top 3 fighters.

1: Dead or Alive 3 (BEST FIGHTING GAME I'VE EVER PLAYED)
2: SSB: Brawl
3: Street Fighter 4

Honorable mentions go to Power Stone 2 and MK: Deception.

Brawl's not a fighter it's an action platformer... but that's something I'll save for another time...

Oh come on now, lets not get into silly semantics. It's a fighter, it follows the core fundamentals of a fighting game and has been aptly been deemed a fighter by the major gaming community. Whether or not you like it and if it's a GOOD fighter is a whole different story, but it's still a fighter. It just has its own spin on things like any other fighter.

1. One Must Fall 2097
2. Virtua Fighter 4
3. Guilty Gear XX

Although I love Street Fighter the franchise, Street Fighter the games are too frustrating for me. So many inputs for so little result!

Marvel vs Capcom 3 is going to be super interesting, as long as they can make it less degenerate than MVC2. Right now it looks like Team Dumb Marvel Characters (Dormammu, MODOK, Super Skrull) should be all over the Internet after release, wiping the floor with noobs who can't air dash.

Hmm.

Can i leave a top 5?

1:Guilty Gear(Johnny, Chipp, Baiken, Faust, Anji)
2:Marvel VS Capcom(2)(Iron Man, Felicia, Captain Commando, Morrigan, Hayato, Tron, Captain America, Strider, BB.Hood, Jill, Cable, and M.Bison)
3:Darkstalkers(Jon, Felicia, Morrigan, H-Ko, Huitzil, Jediah)
4:JoJo's Bizarre Adventure:Heritage for the Future(Jotaro, Pollnariff, Joseph, Dio, Chaka)
5:Samurai Showdown(Tokogawa, Charlott, Ukiyo, The Kid with the Umbrella, Galford, and the Flame Ninja guy)

I love Fighting games, and i am ecstatic about MvC3.
I one day hope to have a Game Room filled with Classic Fighter Machines.
As a little memento the the age of Arcades.
There is nothing like going to an arcade and playing fighting games with a huge group of people, who just happened to be walking by the arcade, its a lot of fun.

The main reason I say "action platformer" instead of "fighter" is because

A) there's no "rounds"
B) there's no HEALTH (there's weird %'s)
C) you don't Kill or KO your opponents instead you throw them off a platform

true they "fight" each other, but it matches nothing that falls in the category of a "fighter" game

and this isn't just me not liking the game; back when I DID like it I still called it an "Action Platformer"

I think of it more as a fighting/platformer Hybrid. But its still a fighter(at least I think it is) and a damn fun one as well.

I went out and bought a 360 slim JUST for MvC3 (okay okay, and castle crashers)
but yes you can have a top 5, you can have a top anything so long as there's at least 3

btw, what's your completely awesome/very overkill avatar of?

The fun part is arguable, but thanks for not being like the people here about it...
the reason I set it apart is because of it's uber hype

wasn't trying to be rude or offending to you directally

(on an off note before brawl fans tell me "you hate it because you suck at it!" I should mention I have all but 3 squares in the checklist, and I have all 5 golden hammers, those 3 squares are, "Play for 100 hours/Play for 300 hours/Play for 500 hours")
