Well, arcades have long been dead anywhere I've lived so there's no arcade game, fighter or otherwise, that's been munching my quarters lately. :(

My current top 3 fighters, in no particular order, are:
Tekken 6 (and the whole Tekken series)
Super SF4 (and the whole SF/SFA series)
Capcom VS SNK 2 (yeah, it's the oldie on the list but I just love the game)

I've also spent a bunch of time playing the Dead or Alive, Soul and Virtua Fighter games but they are more of a momentary fancy to me. I'll play them, love them for maybe a month and then move on to something else. Street Fighter and Tekken, however, will almost certainly remain my favourites forever. Actually, there really aren't many fighters I haven't at least dabbled in. I just love the genre and can/will play almost anything in it even if the game as a whole doesn't totally work for me.

You won't find much love for MvC2 here, I enjoyed the previous VS games and I don't hate MvC2, but it was just too screen filling and chaotic for my tastes.

BlazBlue and Guilty Gear never clicked with me at all, and most SNK fighters didn't either (though I do love me some SamSho 4). I can usually appreciate what they are doing, and I don't mind watching people play them one bit, but I just could never get into actually playing them.

SSB is fun, as is Power Stone 1/2, but I can't take either seriously as a real fighting game. To me they're more fighter/party games that, while fun, aren't meant for real balanced competitive play.

Mortal Kombat can go die alone and destitute in a ditch somewhere. The less said about it in a topic about actual serious fighting games the better.
