What's your favorite fantasy series/book?

This is a fairly straightforward question brought about by reading 550456's thread about the Sword of Truth series. What fantasy series/book do you like best?
Right now, I've just finished 'A Game of Thrones' in the 'A Song of Fire and Ice' books and I plan to get the other books once I get a new job (currently unemployed) or my local library gets the next book in the series back. I've also read the first two books of the 'Malazan Book of the Fallen' series and plan on, eventually, reading the rest. So, 'A song of Fire and Ice' and Malazan Book of the Fallen' are at the top of my list of favorites, 'Lord of the Rings' is a close second and there are a handful of others that follow after that.

Discworld, mostly those which center around Death, Cohen the Barbarian and Moist von Lipwig. I also liked "Small Gods", even though those characters don't really appear in that story.

I'm a big fan of the Dragonlance Trilogy.

Fizban is the man. Any mage that picks locks with fireballs is awesome in my book.

I love the Artemis Fowl series. Thought out, imaginative, varied, and the characters are so great because they never do anything out of the good of their hearts, it's always because they're being forced, bribed or blackmailed.

I haven't gotten around to the Sword of Truth yet, but I have the first three on my shelf.
My favorite fantasies are: Wheel of Time, Dresden Files, and Shannara (Probably in that order.) The Old Kingdom (Abhorsen Series) is also a really good read.

I am currently reading Game of Thrones. I have all 4 of them too. I used to love Lord of the Rings when I was younger but I just find these others a lot better.

I used to love Drizzt but I could never get into R.A. Salvatore's writing.

I really hope that the third book doesn't take as long to release as the second. I want to know the rest of Kvothe's story quite badly, and Patrick Rothfuss is as close to a perfect writer as I've ever seen.

A Song of Ice and Fire, closely followed by The Wheel of Time, in turn followed (a bit more distantly) by the Mistborn trilogy. i also like anything by David Eddings, especially if i'm in the mood for something light.

never cared much for The Sword of Truth, found it far too bleak. used to love R.A. Salvatore's crap, until i realized that his skill at writing fight scenes only thinly disguised his utter lack of any further writing talent. also used to love all of Terry Brooks's Shannara books, but he kinda went George Lucas on them.

*edit* also love Discworld stuff, but i typically class that under humor rather than fantasy, since the main reason i read it is to larf.

Wheel of Time and then Discworld series. WoT is epic in every sense and the Discworld is so clever I cry I laugh so hard.

If you like fantasy read The Farseer trilogy by Robin Hobb. Its seriously the best fantasy series I've ever read, and thats all I read. The Farseer world is HUGE and very extensive. Following the Farseer trilogy, read the Tawny Man trilogy (which is a direct sequel) and the Rainwilds Chronicles. I haven't read The Liveship Traders series but thats also in the same universe.

Also, the Soldier Son trilogy by Robin Hobb was great (though slow in some parts) and it was a very mentally in depth book.
The Seven Realms novels by Cinda Williams Chima are also good books to read. The background is extensive and very in depth, and the plot of both books so far has been amazing.

This is all I came here to say. Mat is one of the greatest fictional characters known to man.

I also liked Aram in that series...Though I felt his exit broke his character for me...And I kinda felt the series stagnated after Lord of Chaos or so. I thoroughly enjoyed the latest books, however. Maybe the series just needed a fresh brain. Not worth the price, in my opinion...

OT: Beyond Wheel of Time, I also like the Swan's War. I've heard criticisms about it, but I still enjoy it. Now if I can just find the final book in the series so I can finish it I'll be set...

The Erevis Cale/Twilight War series is probably one of the few Forgotten Realms series worth reading.

Other than that, probably the Shannara series. Sword of truth fell apart after the sixth book and Wheel of Time is horribly sexist. I haven't read too many fantasy series other than those.

My favorite book is A Clash of Kings, mostly for the battle of the Black Water being just so fucking awesome, and because it doesn't have the soul crushing sadness that makes up A Storm of Swords.
