Go ahead and bash me, I haven't gotten around to playing any FF before 7 (yes, I was a late bloomer). Although, I always liked Squall despite his emo nature.

i have 2 all ime favs as tey where the ons i grew ep with mainly: squall lionheart/leon from final fantasy 8 and tidus from final fantasy 10. those 2 games where the first 2 final fantasy games i owned so u can see why i have them as my favourite characters. in 3rd place however is auron. he's just cool but meh

I don't know if I actually have a fave final fantasy character I mean they all brought something to the story so I can't really choose one.
It's a hard question but I think I'm going to go with Squall (my favourite character from Final Fantasy 8, I just loved that game. It had the best music in my opinion too). He was a loner and an outcast for all intents and purposes but he never really let it stop him from doing what he felt had to be done. He always did his duty and tried to do the right thing and he stood up for what he believed in...also...he stood by his friends and tried to help them as much as possible even when he wasn't particularly good at it (e.g. emotional help [not a frequent helper there but he made the effort a couple of times that I remember]). He was a good, admirable guy and a natural leader despite not really wanting to be. I would also like to add...that the Gunblade he uses is awesomeness in weapon form, a much better design than Seifer's Gunblade I've got to say.
My favourite villain is Sephiroth...probably because he was the villain from the first Final Fantasy I ever played...and he is simply some good old fashioned bad ass...his plan was to injure and thus kill an entire planet, using the husk of another planet (Meteor) and then absorb the life force the planet would try to use to heal itself...to become a God. That is some old school evil villain right there.

Favorite main protagonist: Zidane is my obvious choice. He's such a dramatic change from the other protagonists. He's cheerful, funny, have leadership and he's pretty skilled.
Favorite love interest: I'll have to go with Rinoa. She makes me remember my only good ex. A bit childish, but she makes an effort to take you out of your little shell.
Favorite comic relief: I'm stuck between Steiner, Cid (FF7), Locke and the twins from FF4.
Favorite bad-ass: Amarant Coral. Before meeting Zidane, he beleived in the path of a greek warrior.
Favorite villain: Tied with Kefka and Kuja. Kefka is a good choice just for the pure evil. Kuja had an interesting story and motive. However, He loses 10 points for dressing like a women.
EDIT: Forgot the cool characters....: Well, basicly all FF6 characters, Irvine Kinneas, Most of the FF9 cast and the Dissidia version of Firion.
