Porbably someone from a Final Fantasy - but not 7, as it isn't close to being the best one, IMO. Someone from 9 or 10. I mean, Amarant was cool, but didn't really have that much going for him story-wise... Vivi was fairly epic too

I'm with SmilingKitsune on this one. I've been playing games for most of my life and you ask me to pick a favorite character? I could list hundreds and still forget somebody (and feel guilty about it later). I just picked up Beyond Good and Evil and after only a few hours of play am really getting attached to Jade and Pey'j. What makes a good character anyway? I'm trying to think of all the PC's and NPC's that I missed when either they were gone/killed-off or the credits rolled. Kate Walker and friends from Syberia (1 and 2). Dr. Kleiner from Half Life 2 (and episodes... gotta love his PSA in episode one, "now would be an excellent time for procreation"). Kyle Katarn and Jan from the Jedi Knight series. Deekin from NWN, he was just amusing.... I'll stop now, but you get the ide.. GlaDOS, Companion Cube, the turrets.. arrgg, see now I can't stop... must. hit. post. button.
