My current is Halo: Reach, soon to be Halo 4. It used to be Halo 3, and Halo 2 before that. I'm not sure how many of you play console games (if any) and I'd really like to get a feel for the type of gamers that this site has to offer in terms of people I could play against/with.

A short reasoning behind my love for the Halo saga: I really just like the whole alien vs human war thing. I really liked Dead Space too, but Halo has just always captivated me, it's also the game that my team plays on, so obviously I spend a lot of time playing it, so I may as well like it.

So, please let me know what your favorite game is a maybe give a brief reason as to why it's your favorite.

It jumps between Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King, Final Fantasy VI and Fallout 3. DQVIII is beautiful and just the right amount of simple old schoolness, FFVI is nostalgic and has a great plot, and Fallout 3 is my favourite world to explore and find loot in.

Fallout 3, no doubt. I didn't play it until this year, but I've been a fan of The Elder Scrolls for a long time. I just put it off because I expected it to be The Elder Scrolls but with a brown landscape and guns, but I was so wrong. In my opinion it is far far FAR better than any Elder Scrolls game.

Bad luck about your other thread getting locked

OT:

Baldurs Gate, I have put it down for now due to a mixture of college work, Day Z mod for ARMA II and Left 4 Dead 2. However I always go back to it eventually, I love the fantastic characters, the plot and the difficulty curve is unforgiving if you do something wrong, no second chances. ^^

I don't really have one. It changes pretty much all the time. Right now I'd probably go for Dungeons of Dredmor, which would definitely be in my top 10 list, and Civilization 4, though I tend to only play about one full game of it before I get bored.

no gloating. It's against the rules. My rules. Gloating comments make Jesus cry and they kill unicorns.

OT: I'm not sure maybe Gears of War 2 or 3. Maybe even Fallout 3 or Fallout: NV I can't decide.

I wasn't gloating, I was saying that it was unlucky that Nseines' thread was locked. >.<

Probably shouldn't have stuck ":p" on the end. I'll edit that out.

I want to say Sonic & Knuckles, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, The Lion King (for Genesis), Tetris (any edition), Pokemon Silver version, Final Fantasy X, Kingdom Hearts: BBS, and Bioshock 1, in no particular order.

Legend of Mana for the PSX. I absolutely love that game. It's not without its share of flaws, but it's the closest I've ever played to a perfect game.

Shadow of the Colossus, with Demon's Souls as a very close second place. Both in their own ways very atmospheric games with very distinct gameplay and great storytelling.

Dragon Age: Origins.
Kinda wish I'd played the BG series, but i'm too lazy to go back and play them now.

It depends on the time period?

Am I allowed to break it down by medium?

Sega Mega Drive (Genesis): Jungle Strike or Streets of Rage (tie)

Old school PC: Transport Tycoon

Current PC/Mac: Fallout New Vegas with Quake III Arena in close second. Civ 4 is third.

I don't have a number one due to different genres and moods and the like, but here's the ones I consider to be my favourite in no particular order.

Portal 2 - Fun puzzles (especially co-op) and what I consider to be the best comedic writing I've ever seen in a game, it's damned hilarious. Also, the ending is amazing.

Saints Row: The Third - If Portal 2 had the funniest writing, this had the funniest events and gameplay. It's absolutely ridiculous and I love every minute I spend in it.

Dragon Age: Origins - Loved the gameplay, loved the plot (sure it's cliched, but as Yahtzee said, I can laugh at how cliched it is but if I can play it for 25 hours and still want to know what happens next I should shut the fuck up (Statement not exact)). Loved a few of the companions. (And I've picked up the Baldurs Gate series for comparison, I'm just working through the original fallout first.)

Metroid prime - I find this game to be just damned beautiful. Love it.

Unreal Tournament 2004 - And then, for a purely gameplay based thing, I love bounding around the environment at high speeds blasting fools with varied weapons. Loadsa fun.

Persona 4, completely perfect in every single way. I honestly can't list a single flaw with it. Believe me i've tried XP

Second favourite is the Ace Attorney games. They are totally freaking sweet and I could go on and on over how Phoenix's character arc over the trilogy is just amazing and how the cases are really well thought out and how yelling in court is cool...

I suppose i'll be adding Okami to the list once I have access to a PS2 again so I can complete it.

And on the modern side Bayonetta and Deus Ex: HR. Bayonetta is DMC done right (more than one attack button! Yay finally!) and much more besides and HR is just awesome

Fallout: New Vegas!

The sophisticated writing, detailed character-building and intriguing characters I love from RPGs, with the engaging gameplay I love from FPSs, all in an awesome, ironic-50's post-apocalyptic setting!
