Mass Effect, hands down.

Probably Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn.

I can think of many other games that do one or two things better in my mind and other games I've spent longer playing, but none really stands up as an overall product as well as BG2. Great gameplay, great story, great characters, great music, and hell, I even think the visuals are great. I'm hard pressed to think of a single serious problem I have with the game, which is impressive because I'm typically a big of a cynic when it comes to this stuff.

Probably Devil May Cry 3. Just strap in, clench your teeth, put on some shades, take said shades off since the game is kinda dark, and enjoy the ride.

Fallout 3, no doubt. I didn't play it until this year, but I've been a fan of The Elder Scrolls for a long time. I just put it off because I expected it to be The Elder Scrolls but with a brown landscape and guns, but I was so wrong. In my opinion it is far far FAR better than any Elder Scrolls game.
I still adore fallout 3 myself, got all the dlc for it n the only one I've played is operation ancorage :).

Anywho my fave game right now switches between FIFA12 and mw3 :)

Baldur's Gate 2! or rather the whole series.

it's just a level of story writing that i don't feel bioware or any other designer has gotten close to since.

The story influences the character on both a personal and a world changing scale.
And the NPC companions are simply the best I've ever seen! they befriend, romance, argue, sometimes even try to kill one another, if your a coldblooded antihero some will love you others will hate you and vise versa. the writing behind them is just excellent.
this all in an interesting fantasy world with fun quests, that can start small but end big.

and it has bad guys that you want dead by the end, they inflict personal pain and grief on the player char and force the main char to chase them throughout the intere game.
it's something that i much prefer to see instead of for example the darkspawn from dragon age 1.
the darkspawn might have threatend to destroy the world/country but...i just couldn't really care about them, they are some faceless horde driven by a one track hive mind, there's no personal motivation for the main char, he got fucked over by something unrelated and then recruited by chance. doesn't quite live up to a single good nemesis in my book

Hmmm I kind of want to say Jak and Daxter TPL HD. But that would mean Crash 2 isn't my favorite.....

I don't have a favorite game, I don't think it's really possible to say 1 game is more fun than the other because in the differences in genres and the different types of fun to be had.

By that I mean, the same fun you'd have in a classic JRPG isn't going to be the same type of fun in TF2.

Turok 2: Seeds of Evil. Nearly 14 years after its release, and I've still yet to see a game win me over like this one has even with this game's notorious framerate issues. For anyone with a bit of time, here's a montage to give you a taste of why I like this game so much:

I'm still in love with that soundtrack...

Zelda: Wind Waker (Great story, graphics and game world.)
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door (Great story, graphics and humour, and no grind required in the turn based battles.)
Portal 1 + 2 (Funny, challenging, unique.)
Sonic 3 and Knuckles (Favorite level design of the 2D Sonics.)
Mario Kart Wii. (Incredibly replayable.)

People often criticise Nintendo's consoles and franchises, and they often have points, but I then like to point out that half my favorite games are made by Nintendo.

Psychonauts: It has a charm that can't be beat, and I played it at a time in my life that was... unpleasant, to say the least. When I think of Psychonauts, I don't just remember a game, I remember an experience that genuinely helped me through one of the roughest patches in my life. Oh, and the gameplay and writing were both brilliant too.

Bully: It's my all time favourite Rockstar game, which is saying a lot. Not only is Jimmy one of the greatest protagonists in video game history, being perfectly balanced between thuggish and kind-hearted, the supporting cast and setting is absolutely wonderful. Bullworth genuinely feels alive and vibrant despite how bleak it looks at a glance, and seeing your favourite character walk down the street for the first time is a great moment. The quests are fun and varied, the pacing is excellent, the gangs are diverse and amusing, and there's plenty to do outside the story mode.

There is a reason why I decided to put Gothic II as my icon here.

It's just a completely amazing game. I'll have to play it again soon.

*Puts Planescape: Torment on the first page of the thread*. Planescape: Torment, even after all these years, it's probably the only game (with Syberia being damn close) that I can always go back to and play. If there is anything like a spirit in a game, this one has it. One can only hope it will get kickstarted (its sequel). Combat is mediocore, even by AD&D standards, but everything else is so much.....different. And better. It really is Casablanca of gaming industry.

edit: damn, typing on tablet is slow, second page it is:).

Those will forever hold a place in my cold gaming heart.
