I think it was in Episode 2 but i don't remember exactly what was happening, but it was in some barn and out of nowhere Combine soldiers burst in and this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4hft34WRYw] song comes on and you fight your way out jump in the car and drive away like there's no tomorrow.
Sooo many great moments.
I never understood all the hate for "Water Hazard", the level with the boat in HL2. I really liked the pacing, the sense of actually travelling quite a bit and the over the top driving bits toward the end.
I also love the part with the Antlions at your control, especially the short segment where you climb up the small mountain. So cool to see the 'lions fly up to drop Combine left and right from you.
And special mention goes to the first two chapters of Half Life 2, pretty much the parts before you get your gun. Greatly paced mix of action (chase sequences), story and atmosphere.
But as someone said above, It's the sum of all parts that makes HL great.

That part is HILARIOUS if you're playing S-MOD: Tactical. They have stun batons, and he's batting a gas can...zerzxes said:

I noitced the sound track being mentioned a few times and your right, the half life soundtrack in bang on. It just makes what your doing feel that much more awesome.
I am also going to go on a tangent and say the ending G-man conversation form Opposing force, mainly because that game was my childhood.
But my all time favourite is the g-man conversation frrm episode 2, it was the last thing i was expecting at that time and the "Dr Freeeeeman" made me burst out laughing with joy.

G-Man's and Breen's speeches at the beginning and at the end of Half Life 2 and G-Man's anger at the start of Episode 1.

That was a pretty kickass game. And I did NOT see it coming that Alyx was a traitor. At least that ***** dies.miracleofsound said:
For HL2 though, I like the bit where you have to travel along the underside of the bridge. So atmospherical and intense. Just loved it.
The games are all good at all times but here is what I liked a lot:
HL2: Waiting for the teleporter to recharge while defending with turrets and a shotgun.
Ep 1: Waiting for the lift to arrive while fighting wave after wave of headcrab zomies.
Ep 2: Defending the injured Alyx the two humans (forgot their names) and a vortiaunt from increasing waves of ant lions and then fighting them with other vortigants.
I don't know why I hae a thing for the fights in this game when you have to wait for something because in most games this becomes very boring but this game pulls it off in style.
If it is only a single moment (which is very hard to chose) I will pick the first time in Ep 2 when you and Alyx uncover an advisor. It looks as if it will kill you but is then hurt, flies off and the barn/house roof implodes around you.
