I think that the best pieces of directly child-oriented entertainment are the Winnie the Pooh movies(the original shorts, moreso). Clearly defined characters that make up an endearing family, charming art style, and it doesn't look down on them just because they're kids.

Mine's live action: The Goonies.
I grew up watching this over and over. And over.

Hm, that would be a tie.

101 Dalmatians (Animated version...not the real-life crap)
Lion King (Got to see this in theaters. Never seen better)
Treasure Planet (Steam Punk. <3)
Robin Hood
Fox And The Hound

...yeah. Can't decide from those five. It's impossible to decide, though I might say Fox And The Hound tops the lot of 'em.

What I watched as a kid:

The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth, Willow, Return To Oz, Nausicaa, The Sword In The Stone, The Goonies, Hook, Flight Of The Navigator

Oh, and Time Bandits and The Adventures Of Baron Munchausen. Good stuff.

Whenever I think of a chilhood movie, my thoughts are drawn to this:

[HEADING=3]Rikki Tikki Tavi[/HEADING]

.. and I have no clue why.
...oh my God. I haven't seen, nor remembered, that movie in years! Thank you so much for bringing this back to my attention!

The Emperor's New Groove and Kung Fu Panda. I still find the Emperor's New Groove to be funny and awesome, whilst I only saw Kung Fu Panda a couple days ago and it was pretty good too.

For live action, definitely The Wizard of Oz. In-fact The wizard of Oz was one of the earliest films I recall watching, you wouldn't believe how shocked I am to hear when people haven't seen it

For movies that I watched as a kid that you wouldn't really call a kids movie probably the original Star Wars films (one of my earlier childhood memories is a star wars themed party at my friends house where his dad showed up dressed as Darth Vader...oh star wars and childhood, you go together like pizza and icecream).

For animated films it's a tie between Toy Story and 101 Dalmations.

Why, The Brave Little Toaster, of course! Oh what merriment.

That, or the rescuers. :).
I remember watching this movie...Ok, I only remember that it had a really scary scene in it but I was a kid the last time I watched it.

OT: Some not Pixar favorite children's movies include most of the well known Studio Ghibli films and Disney's Mulan. The first of which was OK and the second not so much.

What is with you people having your favourite kids movies from the last couple of years? Did you really enjoy them more than the kids movies you saw as an actual kid? My favourite was always The Mighty Ducks. I'm sure it would be terrible if I watched it again now, but I saw it numerous times back in the day.

Where the Wild Ones Are. This is easily my favourite, deep psychological drama detailing a childs mental process of dealing with change within in his own life.

Most of you are mentioning family movies, good for the whole family. Kids movies are made for just kids.

Why would you prefer no one to say Pixar OP? For being too awesome doesn't make the slightest bit of sense.

OT: I don't like any kid movies, favourite family movie and favourite out of all is Fantasia.
