So I was flickng through channels the other day when I realized that the only shows I actually like on Nick aynmore (Or should I say recently as they still air Spongebob and Fairly Oddparents) were iCarly and Avatar, one of which definetly wasn't geared at my demographic, but was still well written and funny.

It made me long for the old days when almost anything on Nickelodeon was pure Gold, from a cast of sketch comedians with a giant ear of corn, to a two headed animal abomination against nature. So I thought I'd ask everyone what their favorite series was and why.

Personally, I'd go with Hey Arnold. It was a truely funny show that managed to show people from all walks of life and none of them ever felt like they were being forced in for diversity's sake. My only problem was that we never really got any closure with Arnold's parent situation.

So tell me what you think.

Hey Arnold for me as well, it just had a 'feel' to it. Also, I so fucking wanted Arnold's room when I was a kid.

I'm torn between Invader Zim and The Angry Beavers. The original cast of All That was awesome too.

About an even match between Invader Zim, Spongebob, and Fairly Oddparents. Really good shows.

I really enjoyed Hey Arnold! for many of the same reasons OP cited. I also liked that most every character of the cast got his or her chance in the spotlight at one point or another. By the time the show was over, pretty much every member of Arnold's class had seen some form of character development, and in a kid's show, that's a rare thing. Case in point: Harold. In his first appearance, "24 Hours to Live", he's little more than a bully who's, quite simply, out to kill Arnold. By the time the series is over, he's a devout Jew who's struggled with self-image issues and developed a particular aptitude for working with meat at the butcher's shop. Fascinating.

I also really enjoyed All That. In retrospect, some of the stuff I thought was hilarious when I was a kid doesn't really hold up as well now that I'm older, but at the time, there was nothing better.
And, of course, who could forget that funky theme song, performed by none other than TLC?

I liked Invader Zim (I own the whole set) Rocko's Modern Life and ,when I was way younger (Up until I was twelve/thirteen), I liked Rugrats. Avatar was really good, though I haven't seen every episode.

I'd say The Angry Beavers, no contest, with Catdog, Johnny Bravo and Hey Arnold! finishing the Top 4. Although I recently watched some Hey Arnold and it didn't hold up as well as something like The Angry Beavers or Spongebob does...

On a related note, The Angry Beavers and Johnny Bravo have the best theme songs of ALL TIME.

I'm pretty sure everyone wanted that room. And he had a pet pig in his room, which was sweet to the max.

I'm going with 'Ren and Stimpy'. That show inspired all kinds of nasty and bizarre humor for me. Although 'Rocko's Modern Life' is up there on the list too.

Rocko's Modern Life. I never understood it, I hardly watched it, but I loved it.
And, of course, Invader Zim. It always got a laugh out of me.

Nickelodeon didn't make it, but they aired the dub of the French 'Spartakus and the Sun Beneath the Sea'. And it was awesome.

Well Spongebob was one of my favorite shows for a while there. I don't watch it anymore mainly because I don't watch TV that much anymore, but I used to watch Spongebob every night. Fairly Oddparents was also one I watched rather often. And I started watching A:tLA back when Book Three was premering. That is a good show and I can't wait for the follow-up series.

Although thinking back further I remember watching Hey Arnold and Rugrats on Nick. Those were both pretty good shows.
