Any genre, time period, and console is OK. It'd be great if you could mention what you like about it. Thanks!

My game is Another World (Amiga,SNES, ported to everything ever). It's a great example of cinematic storytelling that doesn't take control away from the player, and holds up very well today. Plus, that gun noise. PEW!

You might want to consider doing what the last 'Top x' thread did, and count to make some form of tally.

As for myself, it would go to FarCry 1 (2004, PC, also 2013/Xbox 360 if they actually bother releasing it!). While you can just look for one of my previous posts where I gush about how much I love the game, I'll just limit it to a sentence or two here:
It's beautiful, has massive open worlds (Cry Engine n' all), has quite fun gameplay even if the stealth's a bit dodgy, has a very well built world (characters, guards having personalities etc.) and while the plot is incredibly cliché it does have this odd charm about it and provides many interesting levels and minor gameplay changes.

And (this is just for my own personal enjoyment), I look at my previous "Top x" and see what changes have been made:
FarCry stays strong at #1, retaining it's high amount of enjoyment, respect, nostalgia and longevity as it did last time.

Far Cry 1 is a great game! It's definitely in my top 10.

Going by play hours and enjoyment on said play hours, it would be Mount and Blade:Warband. I enjoy everything from the gameplay, the world, and pretty much every thing else about it. The graphics could use some improvement, but they are fixing that with Bannerlord.

The modding community only makes it more amazing by making mods like A Clash of Kings or 1257 AD.

Probably a toss up between System Shock 2 and the original Deus Ex, depending on what mood I'm in.

Some honorable mentions in no real order, I guess:
Fallout / Fallout 2 / Fallout: Tactics / Fallout: New Vegas
Jagged Alliance 2
Max Payne
StarCraft / StarCraft 2
Command & Conquer: Tiberian Dawn / C&C: Red Alert / C&C: Tiberian Sun / C&C: Red Alert 2
Telltale's The Walking Dead
XCOM: Enemy Unknown

Wasn't that game called Out of this World in the US? Or am I thinking of another game?

OT: For me, that would probably be Shadow of the Colossus. I've played through that game at least ten times by now, and I still find myself playing through it again every few months or so. I love the simple yet engaging tale of an ordinary young man taking on damn near impossible odds in order to bring his loved one back from the dead, I love the epicness and scale of the fights with the colossi, I love the empty and lonely feeling the Forbidden Lands gives off, I love the absolutely beautiful soundtrack, I love the little extras such as Hard mode and Time Attack, I love damn near everything about this game.

Runner ups include in no particular order:

Final Fantasy IX
Metal Gear Solid 3
Fallout: New Vegas
Valkyria Chronicles
The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD
Disgaea series (mainly 1 and 4)
ICO
Rayman Origins and Legends
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
Banjo Kazooie
Metroid Prime
and others I can't really recall at the moment.

Spyro The Dragon
The game is the perfect kickstart for my imagination. I love everything in it, from the superb music to the color pallets used on the characters and level. And the levels ,there is just something so imaginative and playful about them. There is hardly any rhyme or reason behind them and that?s what I love. It almost feels like you are kind of exploring a dream. You know it makes no sense but you are just having a good time exploring this implausible nonsensical world. Also the enemies are a lot of fun to interact with and look at.

This is impossible to answer. I can give my favorite game on a console...but then I think of a whole ton of other games...this is too hard of a question.

If I had to pick one off the top of my head it'd be Urban Reign from the PS2, because brawlers have been sorely neglected and underdeveloped.

Tricky question.

Probably Half-Life.

While I don't think it's the best game I ever played, between the singeplayer, multiplayer, expansions and the many mods I've enjoyed, the sheer amount of hours of fun this game brought me puts it leagues ahead of any other game, ever.

I'd say that qualifies it for all-time favorite.

You know, my usual answer is Deus Ex. But I'm playing through the Baldur's Gate saga now and I'd say it would be a fair contender to that title.

Also, if someone wanted to remake Baldur's Gate in a modern engine with a modern UI and none of that god awful AD&D 2.5 nonsense, that'd be fantastic.

Ape escape: pumped and primed.

Beast multiplayer experience I EVER had , its a shame I never got to use the 4 player functionalities, or unlock jack.

Another vote for Mount and Blade: Warbands

A mount and blade game without the world map is my dream game.

Other contenders:

Crusader Kings II

Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask

Any N64 game by Rare

Kirby Super Star: SNES

Okami, I love how it has a fun world to explore with tons of sidequests, minigames, the length, the graphics, music and how it works in humor and the emotions from the ending to simple things like restoring the land. It's the best game I've played overall. I've lost count of how many times I beat it.

Kind of a hard question for me to answer, so I'll cheat by making a list.

Childhood favorite: Earthworm Jim.
Gameplay design favorites: Dead Rising and God Hand.
Just an awesome game that I love: Killer7.

Legend of Mana for the Playstation 1.

I know it's the black sheep of the Mana series, and I'll say up front that game is FAR from perfect, but it's the closest I've ever come to a perfect game, especially when my overall biggest complaint is that I wish there was just more of it.

The game is gorgeous, despite being a PS1 game it uses an artwork style presentation that still holds up to certain games made today. The world and characters are vast and interesting, and the levels of customization available in spells, armor, weapons, golems, and monsters is staggering.

It does a good job of blending serious story with an air of comedy, it's got pretty fun co-op options, and a lot of neat options for replay value.

To me the most noteworthy thing is I've beaten the game over 100 times, and I'm still discovering new things, however small. You never know what mixing up the order you do certain quests in or having along a certain NPC at a certain time might add to the dialogue.

And don't even get me started on the soundtrack <3

Yeah it has its flaws, combat can be a little repetitive, the same monsters always being in the same places can make it repetitive, but I really feel like the flaws it has can be overlooked with how amazing the rest of the game is.

I still just play through it every now and then for the fun, and I can't say that about a lot of games out there.

No doubt about it, Legend of Mana is my absolute favorite.

I'm gonna go with Super Metroid. The gameplay, the atmosphere, the boss battles. Everything about that game was just awesome.

It's a three way tie between:

- Mega Man X
- Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past
- Spyro The Dragon

I'd have to say Planescape: Torment. I can't think of a single game that, to this day, I remember with such fond memories, and I'll go to my grave saying it has one of the best stories of all time, and that includes being compared to books and movies.

Dark Souls. Stats and combat, implicit storytelling, atmosphere, characters, player agency, Demon Great Machete.

EDIT: And since people don't know what 'favourite' means, the second and third are Armored Core for Answer and Monster Hunter Freedom Unite.
