I would have to say it's Mega Man X by far.

I suck at every other Mega Man game ever made, but I know X like the back of my hand.

Lots of nostalgic value, however, so I suppose I could be called very biased.

I'm kinda limited to games that were on the Playstation consoles because I never had any of the vintage consoles and I'm not a PC gamer, but I'm going with Mass Effect 3. I had the same grumbles as a lot of people when it was released, the ending, the rushed feel of it, the fact the best parts were paid DLC, but dammit I still love it! The writing is the best I have ever seen in a game, the action was the best it had ever been in the series and, most of all, Citadel DLC. Yes, it was an extra £15ish, but it was the perfect send-off and was everything I wanted from the game. The party segment was a perfect mix of both humour and emotion. It was so good, I forgave all the issues with the main game and after all the updates and DLC, ME 3 is pretty darn fantastic.

I'm still not sure what my favorite video game of all time is. I'll just come to the conclusion of Fallout New Vegas. Donkey Kong 64 and the first Ratchet and Clank are also some of my favorite games.

You two sold me on those games. I've been eyeing them on PSN for a while, but you're making me go for it. Cheers to good games :)
Happy to help. Hope you enjoy it. It can be a little confusing because there's not really any sort of tutorial or really any indication about where you're supposed to go or what you're supposed to do, but it can get pretty exciting.

How to choose just one game? Zelda: A Link to the Past, Super Mario World, WipEout, FFVII and Metroid Prime are all worthy. Probably Super Mario World or WipEout, cause I keep coming back to them.

Halo: Combat evolved for the PC. This game got me into online gaming, PC gaming and fps' in general. I still play it to this day and have yet to see another community like it had a few years ago.

If it had to be solely a single player game though I guess I would go for mass effect 2 because I just had so much fun with it.

I have quite a few, but if pressed I would probably go for Deadly premonition. I know the controls left a lot to be desired, but I absolutely love the characters and the story. The first time I saw the ending it made me cry. No other video game can claim that it moved me to tears.

Other favourites include:

Persona 3: FES
Persona 4
Silent Hill 2
Banjo-Kazooie
Resident Evil 2
Psychonauts
Jet set radio future
Jet Grind radio (it is also sometimes called Jet set radio)
Resident Evil 4
Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow
Final fantasy IX
Super Mario: Allstars
