Definetly LOTRO. I started playing before it went F2P, so I already had enough points(which you can buy or grind to purchase things) to unlock everything. Been playing free ever since, apart from buying the expansion. Could've done it with the points though.
Have lost intrest almost completely the past few months, but it did keep my busy daily for almost three years. Huge, immersive game world with a really great community.

Puzzles and Dragons on my Android. It's Puzzle Quest meets Pokemon.

Most recently, Path of Exile.
I took a hiatus from it for a while, because of work and because I got burnt out on it, but I recently got back into it and rolled a Witch, because my other character is a Duellist, so I wanted a change of pace.
Goddamn, that game is fun, especially as a Witch. Summoning legions of the undead, raining fire from the sky, flash freezing and shattering hordes; the abilities have a natural synergy to them, making them a blast to combo together.
Duellist was fun too, being able to tank damage and demolish with close range AOEs, or blink strikes, or blowing up enemies causing all adjacent enemies to catch fire.
POE just makes you feel powerful, with the variety of abilities and passives and the drops are exciting, with rares and artifacts being more common than you may think. Mini-bosses and Act final bosses alike have a chance of dropping the Named items.
And microtransactions are exclusively cosmetic items and increased storage chest space, so there's no pay to win bullshit.
It's just an all round great game, occasional lag spikes aside.

Hell yes to Puzzle and Dragons!

Warframe is a good one, I definitely like the more co-op oriented gameplay rather than PvP.
I haven't been much into F2P games lately, most of the MMOs I used to play I got bored with.
Tera is quite fun, and a bit more immersive in combat that's not "Push button, watch animation", your place in the combat field actually matters, instead of hoping the numbers worked out right so you dodged an attack, you actually dodge an attack.

I am really enjoying SWTOR without paying a cent so far. And it's good enough that I might actually subscribe to make it even better.

Also, I think if you don't get a warning for a certain time period (6 months I think) they remove one bar from your warning meter.
Oh, really? Awesome. My two warnings are like a niggling itch I just can't reach, a horrible stain on my otherwise perfect record. Like if Superman had a parking ticket or something.

I can't wait for them to be removed so I can return to bein the very greatest poster this forum has ever seen. Shining beacon of morality here, people. Feel free to worship.

Weird, I live in a country that just adores pointless "moral" outrage, yet I haven't heard a thing about it. If I weren't at work, I'd be tempted to Google it and see what all the fuss is about...
It's an anime themed MMO that features (for now) only female playable characters in stripperific costumes. The controversy surrounding it was the "inclusion" of nudity. I used quotation marks there because in order to access it, you have to pay roughly $20 for it, per character. It's like 8 or 10 characters per account maximum.

You get to pilot mechs in the game too, didn't know that before going in. Was a pleasant surprise.
The controversy was nudity? Just nudity? That's a bit lame. Where was this? Here in the UK I don't even remember the tabloids being up in arms about it, and they have a screaming fit every time they can find something to vaguely justify it.

This, this one-thousand times over! If any F2P models want to learn how to make your game not P2W or CardOp, then learn from Path of Exile. It is by far the fairest F2P system you will ever find, and it is truly F2P. Out of respect for their mission I became a founder 3 times over (one founder pack for me, one for my girlfriend, and one for my m8) before the game even had more than one act. I have kickstarted, founded/foundered (not sure how to properly say this), and supported 6 games so far, and of all of those games (still have one more that hasn't come out), Path of Exile is the only one that hasn't disappointed me yet.

I've never read the tabloids, but the was quite a stir here on the Escapist. That being said, it's not a very populated game, I think.

Star Trek online. With the exception of a few minor things, it is relatively unchanged from the subscription model.
Yup, same. Played it with friends for over a month straight and had a lot of fun. Not that much to do at max level, but basically every thing there was could be gotten without subscription. The starship combat was great. :)

SMITE,Vindictus.Yeah Vindictus is really really boring until like level 60+ since that's when you start getting to the good stuff like the raids which have really nice bosses and with season two I can pretend I'm playing Monster Hunter Online until that finally bloody releases in Europe. And SMITE is really just amazing, the artstyle the gods all good stuff and they are constantly adding new things as well so yay for SMITE!

Team Fortress 2 obviously. I have like 800 hours on that thing. I'm in love with the fact that it's really well balanced. Default weapons are comparable, if not better to the ones you find/buy as they're just made for different playstyles.

I would add in Planetside 2, but the technical issues caused me to just quit completely. Plus the weapons were - "NEW WEAPON FOR YOU TO GRIND/PAY FOR THAT'S TOTALLY OP!" Weeks later - "SHIT IT'S OVERPOWERED LET'S NERF IT!" Rinse, Repeat.
