One for me is actually LoZ, cause it holds my fave game, but above it generally is Tekken. First of my 3 favorite fighting franchises I played and it was the first I played with my late father so its got the nostalgia factor times 1000. (Super Smash and Street Fighter for those wondering) And one I hope will spawn a new awesome franchise... Street Fighter VS Tekken had better rock or I'm gonna dive off a roof.

Edit: also Starcraft. Epic RTS at its best. In fact, all of Blizzard has been liquid awesome for my personal taste.

Hmm, depending on overall time spent and how much I enjoyed the series, I would choose the Spyro the Dragon trilogy on the original Playstation. Spyro was my first game and I loved it.

A close second would be Pokemon. I can't really think of any main entries that I didn't like.

And rounding out the group would be the Legacy of Kain and Mass Effect series.

Dont get me wrong I love wind waker and your absolutely spot on with the stunning visuals and brilliant story etc but the mad run around to get the triforce is the one thing that stopped a lot of people I know enjoying the game :/
ah well color me nostalgia i guess, but your right of corse, i guess every great zelda has to have its water temple eh? it was frustrating and tedious, but looking back i can honestly say that that bit of the game seems so small and the rest so perfect, and i hate to think that some people had their experience ruined by the triforce hunt, because after that the game just got better! they really dont make em like they used to do they.. man i miss the gamecube... :(

Loving your cheeky water temple reference there! Its a shame to think that so many people I know had their experience ruined when if they had just braved the triforce hunt they could have enjoyed the epic plot twists and adventures that followed it!
Yeah sometimes I turn off the PS3 or 360 and just wack out the gamecube, bit of SSB melee and what not, it takes me back to a better time :)

poor nintendo, we will never let them forget! haha some of my very best gaming moments were with three other guys all crammed around ssb, such insanity! you know i wonder how the industry would be today if the gamecube had been the (well deserved) monsterus success and not the ds?

I know how that feels, the tension and passion as four close friends battle it out for ultimate bragging rights! I think in an ideal world the gamecube would have been really successful I mean it had games to satisfy everyone, from shooters like XIII, fighting games like SSB, adventure games such as LoZ WW and even Animal Crossing which is one of the most chilled out games ever! Some days I look at next-gen consoles and just wish the fanboys and what not would take a trip back in time to witness the games and machines that paved the way for the gaming we have today

Fallout. It's just my personal favorite. I'd never sunk that much time into a game before I played Fallout 3.

Jagged Alliance (duh) but honourable mentions go to Mechwarrior, NOLF, and Civilisation. X-Com could have taken it but only the first two games are any good.

Personally I'm an Eddy guy, mainly cause of his story, but Jin has had the best combos for my style. But King... Jaguar face win.

Ahhh Eddy he did have his moments and Jin is immense, but as soon as I saw King's jaguar face I knew I had found my ideal character, plus I love his mexican wrestling fighting style if you chain like three of his combos you can get a perfect K.O.

I'm just glad they brought Armor King back for the 6th. That is one of the funnest fights I've ever had was AK VS King 6-KO win marathon. In-friggin-sane.

Metal Gear Solid because the gameplay is consistently excellent and fuck you I like the plot.

Final Fantasy, specifically the PS1 trilogy(especially FFVIII) because the gameplay in those specifically is consistently excellent and fuck you I like the plot.

Legacy of Kain, because the plot is consistently excellent and fuck you I like the gameplay.

I would say half life. The first fps i played through and really enjoyed was half life 1 and it got me into fps's as a whole. Other then that the jak n' daxter series is a all time fave of mine.

Silent Hill, because I love horror games and considers Silent Hill games to be some of the scariest games. At least until recently. And Half Life, because it's just awesome.

I go back and forth between these four series, but they're consistently in my top 4;

Mega Man X - I started playing this series before the classic series, and I love the fast paced dashing/double jumping/wallkicking maneuvering and the copy-your-weapon-then-use-it-on-you combat, as well as the feeling of complete indestructability when using Zero. The music is also ballin for the most part.

Resident Evil - Always felt like a badass playing the pre-RE4 games because the goofy control scheme was apparently too much for some of my friends and cousins to handle. I'd usually end up playing the game out like a movie in front of them, and I never got tired of the cheap pop-up scare tactics. Then RE4 came out and pretty much killed the survival horror genre, but made up for it by becoming my fav 3PS ever.

Metal Gear Solid - I loved the convoluted storyline. Every game in the series is a quality one and the gameplay is consistently improved upon with each release. Also, Solid Snake and Big Boss are BAMFs

Final Fantasy - Every game I've played has been good (though I haven't played FF12, or FF13 yet). I love the storytelling despite the occasional plotholes, and the music in the series is some of gaming's best.

Assassin's Creed and Bioshock are quickly moving into the discussion though and might over take any of the above series one day

Phoenix wright. For some of the most heart pounding moments in a game. And it was all text.

Brothers in Arms because it has a lot to do with the characters. Everyone has a backstory and you feel like you know each of them personally. And the gameplay itself is pretty good, well Hell's Highway anyway. The other two were playable but not as much as Hell's Highway.
