Musicals have a special place in people hearts, don't they? Whether they you love them or you hate them, their catchy tunes always find a way to climb out of your subconscious and make a break out into the open...and get you a few stares from onlookers in the process.
So, I ask you my fellow Escapists: What are some of YOUR favourite Musicals?

Hey if you don't have one, why not just drop a few of your favourite songs or, if your creative, see if you can come up with your own.

Personally, my favourite is Little Shop of Horrors

An all-star cast, killer plants, catchy tunes, romance and a sadistic Dentist. How could this ever suck?

Ahh, you picked mine! Well second favorite:

Across the Universe.

I mean we get to see Salma Hayek as a sexy singing nurse. How is this not one of the greatest movies ever?

Musical is the lowest form of theater, a bastardization of opera that chokes the beauty out of the form (although I admit I love Avenue Q).

My favorite musical theatrical performance is a good opera company performing The Barber of Seville.

You have got to be kidding me.
Sorry, but I find the film's plot dull, bland and confusing, and the musical numbers are not well played out.

South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut.

Always has been, probably always will be.

As for stage musicals... well... I have never seen one. I kicked myself for being broke when Evil Dead: The Musical played Calgary.

It's not exactly a musical, but I like Music & Lyrics.
The Wiz is great too.
I like Glee, which is a television musical. xD
Most Muppet movies (the original,Take Manhattan, Wizard of Oz) are wonderfully fun.
Repo: The Genetic Opera is good (who doesn't want to see Paris Hilton's face fall off?)
The Swan Princess. Nostalgia factor makes this absolutely amazing for me. xD
EDIT: I do love Rocky Horror Picture Show and Little Shop of Horrors as well.

As for stage productions, I love Legally Blonde: The Musical. Lots of fun. xD

There's a musical sequence in MirrorMask (just one that is sung by giant intelligent music boxes), does that count? If it does, that's my favorite.
That movie is astounding. ^^

I'm one of those people who can never just pick one. xD

The Producers I wish I could see it live on stage but alas I has no moneys. I felt that the remake of the movie was very good especially Nathan Lane's performance. Also who doesn't love Der Guten Tag Hop-clop.

Wow what a snob.

If you don't see any beauty in musicals you take theater way too seriously.
If preferring the orchestration and masterful craftsmanship of opera over prolefeed like musicals makes me a snob, then pass the Snob Sauce.

*Totally passes it and moves the hell on*

Evil Dead: The Musical.

Even if it's poorly-acted, it's good. Because THEN, it's authentic!
