Final Fantasy IX.

One of my most favorite JRPG's as well. To think, when it came out, I simply glanced at the strategy guide that was on display at Borders when I was younger and didn't think much of it. Over 10 years later, I downloaded the game off of the PSN after playing through FFVII. And I was surprised how much I loved the game.

Fucking Ape Escape.

First platformer to use the analog sticks exclusively.

Also, monkeys, lots of them, that you can catch.
I remember when I first got that game, I was used to playing everything using the D-pad. So for about 10 minutes, I was wondering why I couldn't move. It didn't really occur to me to use the analog sticks. >_>

Spyro 2. No, Crash Warped. No, FFIX. No, Spyro 2.

One of those three, can't decide which. With notable mentions for Soul Reaver, Crash Team Racing and Tombi.

It's a toss up between Silent Hill and Parasite Eve.

I love them both and they are awesome, especially Parasite Eve for the random rants on gun control! :D

Final Fantasy Tactics, though I never owned a PSone myself. Played plenty of games on friends' machines, and played plenty more years later on my PS2.

Probably a tie between Front Mission 3 and Diablo.

I lost many a coffee fueled night to those games.

Final Fantasy VII for me, although as the first game I got for the system back in the day, it being my favorite game on the system is largely the nostalgia talking. It being my favorite JRPG, however, is not. My next favorite JRPG is Dragon Quest 3, for what that's worth.

By the way, as I write this I'm sitting in my room watching my sister play my copy of the PS1 Spiderman game. I've been going on a bit of a PS1/PS2 binge lately, spurred by me buying a couple of PS2 games from the $4.99 and under bin in Gamestop.

I don't own a PS1, but I do have some PS1 games lying around and I would say that my favorites would have to be Megaman X4, Rayman, and Legend of the Dragoon.

Mine has to be MediEvil 1. It was the very first video game I played, and to this day still one of my favourites. Its incredible blend of black humour, gothic atmosphere and wonderful music goes unparalleled even today. Crash Bandicoot 1 is a very close second, though.
How the hell did someone ninja me with MediEvil in the first post?
Impressive OP. Impressive...

Second place goes to Final Fantasy IX, only just beat it yesterday after downloading it on PSN and it's already taken a place above Spyro: Year of the Dragon and Crash Bandicoot: Warped.

This old starwars fighter game. It was like street fighter but with lightsabers. That is the only ps1 game I played. ps1 is too old for me. though I played plenty of ps2 games.

Easily FFVII then behind that is MGS and Crash Team Racing all games I still play today as well on occasion especially VII and CTR. With MGS I need longer breaks between each play now.

For me it's Xenogears.

I remember first playing the demo way back when, and thinking, I need to buy this game.

Back then the combat was very innovative. It had anime cutscenes, an engrossing story, and giant robots.

What is a game? A miserable pile of code! But enough talk, have at you!

SOTN is the only PS1 game I didn't flat out reject when I got my PS2. I still have it today and pop it into my oldskool backwards-compatible PS3 every now and again.

atm the one i find myself drawn back to time and time again to take it out for a spin is Vandal Hearts.

however i'm a total Wipeout head almost by default.
WipeOut it is. It got it on launch with my PS1, and it completely blew my mind. The graphics, the emphasis on it's art style and soundtrack - it basically made gaming cool, even for the mainstream press. 2097 and Wip3out improved on a winning formula, but ultimately did not have the same impact as the first one did.

PS1 was such a great system though. I mean FFVII/FFIX, Silent Hill, Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil/2 and Crash Bandicoot were absolute top class. And let's not forget Vagrant Story and Oddworld neither. And I logged quite a few hours playing G-Police, lol

Hmmm...tough one. There are still PS1 games that I play today:

- G-Police (I wish someone still made these kinds of games for console)
- Driver (an admittedly basic but still 3D "living" world years before GTA3 arrived)
- Syndicate
- Colony Wars series (see my G-Police comment)
- Final Fantasy aeries
- Syphon Filter

Any of those could be a contender for me. I just can't decide on one single game though!

Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee

It's the game that made me the gamer I am today.
