Fucking Ape Escape.

First platformer to use the analog sticks exclusively.

Also, monkeys, lots of them, that you can catch.
First post-SNES (don't know which generation that was) game I ever owned.

It still holds up. All of it.
Yeah, I still have fond memories of it.

Was a great little game that came out of nowhere and stole my heart.

Wish there was a PSN release...
Never did try Ape Escapes 2 and 3, were they up to much do you know?

I've still got my Ape Escape, if I had an archive, it'd be in there, next to Deer Avenger.
...I've got a useless filing system.
Nah, I didn't play any of the sequels.

I have no idea why...
According to Gamespot, they weren't exactly bad, similar scores to the first, can't be much different.
Time to investigate I think :D

Plus they apparently made a bunch of party game spinoffs a la Raving Rabbids.
And I miss my copy of MGS3 for the Ape hunting minigame...

Never owned or played with a PSone so my favorite has to be Grandia by default since I just got it on PSN recently, and is the only PSone game I have played, even if only for a few hours so far. Maybe next I'll try FFVI, as I have heard a lot of good things about it's story if I remember correctly.

A lot of my favourite PS1 games have already been mentioned (including Final Fantasy IX which I'm currently playing through again) but by far the game I loved the most was Silent Bomber. I can still remember the first time I got to the first boss and thought 'WHY ISN'T IT ALL ON THE SCREEN? HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO KILL THIS?'

Mine has to be MediEvil 1. It was the very first video game I played, and to this day still one of my favourites. Its incredible blend of black humour, gothic atmosphere and wonderful music goes unparalleled even today. Crash Bandicoot 1 is a very close second, though.
I agree with you sir, MediEvil 1 is such a great game.

...and now I want to go and play it for the gazillionth time, excuse me.

Final Fantasy IX. It's also my favourite game. A lot of people are saying Final Fantasy VIII, and I don't understand the appeal of that game at all. I love most of the games in the FF series, but that game I found painfully boring and could never make it past the second disc.

Final fantasy tactics, FFVII, suikoden 1 and 2, beyond the beyond, lunar 1 and 2, castlevania: SOTN, megaman x4, and resident evil 1 and 2.

I had to narrow the list down so I wouldn't be naming 30 games. Reminds me how fun the ps1 era was.

Medievil hands down, I mean you can't top the music used in that game, I love it to bits!

That song brought back the memories of the annoying little imps stealing your gear.

I'm gonna have to play this again soon....

I'd say Legend of Legaia. Strong battle system with various strategies and also one of the very few games ever that changed characters clothing with equipped armor in a turn based RPG.

Indeed that era was all about diversity and trials. Alone the PSone as a bigger library of games than xbox, xbox360, PS3 and Wii combined. At that time they made games to be fun and creative and now like all source of amusement it is all about less content for more bucks. My game of Jade Cocoon had 200+ hours and I still had not done everything.

For those that don't know Jade Cocoon look it up! That game will blow your mind!!!

Definitely Silent Hill.
If you can get over how cheesy of a villain Dahlia is, and the excessive Resident Evil 1 cries of "WHAT IS THIS?" "WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?" every 5 or 10 minutes, then it's absolutely fantastic. I didn't know that a game could impose such a dreadful and surreal atmosphere with the PS1's limited graphical capabilities. Oh, and everyone loves Harry Mason.

Skullmonkeys, that game had great music, looked fantastic and had an hilarious sense of humour.
Oh, I'm definitely going to have to get that some time. I've been playing The Neverhood as of recent, and I absolutely love it. Therefore, a sequel should be equally as awesome.

Star Ocean: The 2nd Story and Chrono Cross are the key games that got me into RPGs (for the PS1) and I judged ALL future RPGs I purchased based on these two games

I borrowed FF7 from a friend and completed it which got me into the FF series, odd that I have been around since the NES days and never heard about Final Fantasy until then...

Lots of love for FFIX here.

Can't argue with that, FFIX pretty much does everything right. (Music, design, story, battle system ect.)
Zidane, Vivi, Steiner, Garnet/Dagger, great main protagonists.
Quina is a great comic relief character in my opinion, (and USEFUL, once you get the better abilites).

It would be nice if we could get a non-mmo Fantasy Final Fantasy again.
And some actual likeable protagonists.

Crash Bandicoot 2. Seriously, that level where you were riding on the baby polar bear, being chased by the mum.

There's no PSN release? Why? That was a first party Sony game, you'd think they'd have every last one of them on the store.

Final Fantasy VII for me, although as the first game I got for the system back in the day, it being my favorite game on the system is largely the nostalgia talking. It being my favorite JRPG, however, is not. My next favorite JRPG is Dragon Quest 3, for what that's worth.

By the way, as I write this I'm sitting in my room watching my sister play my copy of the PS1 Spiderman game. I've been going on a bit of a PS1/PS2 binge lately, spurred by me buying a couple of PS2 games from the $4.99 and under bin in Gamestop.
I love the PS1 spiderman game. Though I wish it had more missions like the first one because it was pretty great fun to stealth through the bank webbing everyone from the ceiling.

Yep, MediEvil, it was the first PSOne game I played and it is incredibly fun, I love it so much that I'm only buying PS All Stars if Sir Daniel is confirmed to be in the game. Funny thing is, I never had gone to beat it back in the day and I lost the disc, then I found out that it was on the PS store, so I'm currently going on another run and it's just like I remembered it to be.
