I know the first game I have recollections of was a racing game and after doing some research I think it may have been Gran Trak 10 or at least some similar looking game (Gran Trak was released quite a few years before I was born).

The first game to really get me to take notice was super mario bros still as playable today as when it was 1st released a genuinely brilliant game (although super mario bros 3 is my favourite mario game ever).

Escape Velocity for the Mac OS (The original)

Also, for something a bit more modern that people might know, anything by Bioware, really.

The first two games that I loved and which got me to playing games regularly are Star Wars: Rogue Squadron and Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire.

Mariokart (can't remember the subtitle) on the gamecube was my first game ever, but Halo 3 is what really got me obsessed with the medium.

I believe it was before I even owned a game console: it was playing Sly Cooper & The Thievius Raccoonus on my friend's PlayStation 2 After school in the third grade.

After that, my course of action was set!

I think it was the original Super mario bros but Im not sure. My first experience with video games was actually with the old Atari but I dont remember much from it besides playing pitfall a lot. I do know that I didnt get really into video games till the NES came out though

The first Rayman on PS1, probably should buy Rayman Origins when it comes out (out already?) for nostalgia... And to check that it wasn't really a pile of shit cloaked in roses.

You can never be too sure with these things

I did have A Sonic game before that, but i can never remember which one it was. Sonic 2? The first Sonic?

Age of Empires 2

Still love this game, love the franchise (well, except AoE online :<). I play it at least one time per year. Back then, it got a 6 year old girl into gaming AND history. Thanks Ensemble Studios and R.I.P.! ;_;

It's definitely a toss up between Dungeon Keeper and Age of Empires... Oh Big Daddy what a wonderful, wonderful cheat you were.

I was born into a world of video games....I can't remember a time before them. Since I was excited as hell about the 64, (even though I was only 5 at the time) I have to conclude that it was an SNES game. Super Mario World, Megaman X, Super Adventure Island 2, Donkey Kong Country 1 and 2, and Kirby Superstar are the heavy hitters.

While my first game was the first Crash Bandicoot, I think Halo 3 was when I could REALLY start being called a "gamer." Halo 3 was the first game that I got special edition and on day one; I think getting it on the release day would've been good enough though, the special edition thing is just gravy.

Used to watch my dad play Tomb Raider (First 3 were great to sit and watch), but the one that sticks out for my own game playing is definitely Neverwinter Nights. That game was priceless for kickstarting my love of Bioware and all things RPG.

The first game I ever played? That actually got me into gaming at all, or majorly so?

Because my very first video game Donkey Kong for the Atari 2600 when I was 4 or 5 years old. And from then on I was pretty much a video game fan.

Though if we're to say what solidified video games as a truly important part of my life, Chrono Trigger taught me that video games were a thing of beauty to cherish and live for.

There was no single game that got me into gaming. I loved early 80s arcade machines like Pac-Man and Donkey Kong, Atari 2600 games like Pitfall, and even the slightly odd educational games we played in school on an old Apple--Oregon Trail and an arithmetic version of Missle Command.

I remember really falling in love with Myst in 1993, and that may be what kept me in gaming. Great mix (for the time and genre) of story, graphics, and gameplay.

I've been playing games since the C64..but the first game that i ever fell in love with, the one that i couldn't put down and had to play every damn day. Was Ducktales on nes. A-Wooo Oooo! I traded in my action figures for a controller that day.

Pokemon Silver, of course. That was way back when I was still a whippersnapper. I didn't get "serious" (for lack of a better term) until I got my first Xbox 360 and Halo 3.
