Wow, MSG codec ring and Final Fantasy fanfare music is apparently the way to go. And here I was thinking that was relatively original when my friend had it.
I've got, or had in the past:
- Spongebob Squarepants Theme.
- Foamy's ringtone (angry squirrel rants in a flash vid, worth a google) from his rant about cell phones - basically just him saying "Hey! Follow the sound of my voice, and KILL whoever is holding the phone" in his annoying, high pitched squeal.
- Portal - Still Alive (like everyone else) plus the Still Alive latin/samba version from the radio in-game, and a few random GLaDOS and turret quotes I got through GCFscrape.
- Various Sonic and Super Mario sound effects - rings, lifes, beanstalk, etc.
- Dr Who Theme
- Zarathustra (best known as "the music" from 2001: A Space Odyssey)
- About 50 or so random quotes, theme songs, etc from cartoons, movies, TV shows...e.g. The Jetsons' Doorbell was my msg tone for a while.
Anyone else tend to replace the various tones in messenger clients, operating systems, etc with geeky stuff as well? My XP error tone used to be HAL saying "I'm sorry Dave, I can't let you do that". Anything that'll amuses me for a bit, until it becomes so annoying I replace it with something new.
