IQ scores depend from test to test. The spread of the scores varies from test to test, with 100 always being the mean. So just naming an IQ score without identifying the test is meaningless.

A budy and myself once took part in an IQ test held by Mensa. Came out in the top 99.5 percentile (read: results at the top 0.5% of the population).

I find it depends on the test. One of them said I had an IQ of 126. The other one said I had an IQ of 156. I think the first one is probably correct.

My dad's a criminal psychologist and i twisted his arm into giving me the standard British IQ test as issued by the government to prisoners
i was delighted to finally have a reliable IQ score
not so much when it turned out to be 110
i'm nowhere near as clever as i thought i was

so naturally i then laughed it off stating that IQ tests are useless and inaccurate when previously i had never thought this

I'd say no one in this thread has done a valid IQ test... It costs hundreds of dollars (talking from an Australian perspective here, make of it what you will) to get a valid IQ test such as the WAIS administered professionally.

Never known IQ to have much baring on anything.

It's much better to be averagely intelligent but pragmatic, enthusiastic & driven than it is to be an indolent, eccentric genius.

170 is insanely high. Example is this kid [http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_thelookout/20110329/ts_yblog_thelookout/for-12-year-old-astrophysics-prodigy-the-skys-the-limit] who has an IQ of 170, and look what's he's doing
