Favorite: J/RPG, because fuck all of you.

Least favorite: Visual Novels, Sports games, "Sim" games.

I'm naming more hated genres because they're easier to single out.
I agree with this poster. Like 100%.

I'm playing kingdom hearts right now in fact.

I love JRPG's and Horror, aswell as survival Horror (even though they are pretty much the same).

Least I like is Sports and Racing.

Usually I like JRPG's because of the story and different characters.
Thus my favourite JRPG game is "SMT: Persona 4".

My favorite is probably RPGs. Action RPGs come at a close second, but I, for some godforsaken reason, enjoy most turn based battle systems with the exception of Persona 3.

Least favorite is realistic sports simulators. I just don't like them.

Least - A mix between JRPG and Sports. Which is weird because I play sports in real life. Heh.
Favorite - A standoff between Western RPGs, FPSs, and Sandboxes. Until Chuck Norris walks in and wrecks everyone's shit.
JRPG isn't a genre.

My least favorites are JRPG and Sports...for all the reasons others have mentioned above.

Favorites are sandbox adventure/puzzle/platformers.

In a general sense, it is.
Japanese and Western RPGs usually play out differently, both looks and gameplay. While the main idea is Role-Play, each take it to different levels.

There are plenty of exceptions to that rule though. You're just generalizing based off of the region the game was made in.

If anything, it's a sub-genre, but like I said there are many exceptions to that rule.

my favorite is turn based/ real time strategy (especially if it has a good map editor) but my least favorite would have to be platformers

No, i'm not generalizing of the region the game was made in. I'm talking about the games themselves. Japanese and Western RPGs usually follow along a certain route but like you said, there are expections. It's entirely possible for a Japanese studio to make a Western RPG. I'm simply noting the look of the game, and the gameplay. It's not the area, but the similarity to games made in that said region.
I guess they could be considered sub-genres. But that still counts as them in the genre section.

I'm incredibly open minded when it comes games so I'll probably enjoy just about anything, however their's a few genre's i don't play as much as others, and those are, fighters, racers, and sports.

Fighters: I like a couple, but their is too much of a steep learning curve to most of them, so i don't really bother with them.

Racers: I only feel that they are only worth playing with another person, just so you can laugh in their face while seeing you opponents car fade away from view.

Sports: I've never really found the point of playing something that you can easily do in real life. Getting a bunch of friends together to play football is infinitely better than play fifa, and being a couch potato.

Demon's Souls = Wester RPG

I meant Japanese games in Japanese styles. And if there was an actually good Japanese game out there I'd admit to liking it.
Demon's Souls has more in common with roguelikes than what one commonly refers to as a WRPG.

They've been around (albeit niche) for a while in both regions, with ZHP being a recent, more pure example of an Eastern roguelike.

[sub]Unless your argument is "it's Western because I like it"[/sub].

Favorite... JRPG/RPG (Either/Or) and FPS.
Also enjoy simulators (Favorite series of all time, Ace Combat, is a flight sim)

I love FPSs, usually historical ones. The first-person perspective draws me into the game the same way I prefer first-person novels. At a stretch, OSSs as well if the story's engaging.

I hate platformers or racers. Platformers require skill in timing I'm not willing to invest the time in, and racing games usually handle in such a way crashes are always guaranteed. I'm a perfectionist and watching my car crash into another's for a rather arbitrary reason (such as I barely touched the L button and the whole thing did a doughnut) is a guarantee for rage-induced controller throwing.

My least favorite is a toss up between a few, sports, RTS, and racing. They don't appeal to me, playing Brutal Legend was a trial in patience for me, I liked the game but not the RTS battles. Sports games I don't care that much to play in real life to begin with so why would I play them in a game. And racing games bore me, and I couldn't care less about customizing cars and whatever, even the arcade racing games I don't find very interesting. Except Mario Kart.

My most favorite are RPGs, both western and Japanese, they are both fun in their own rights, and fighters. I love Mortal Kombat and that was my very first mature game so I have many fond memories of playing that game to death. RPGs I like for the worlds that they take place in and the types of characters you can play as.
