My copy of Xenoblade Chronicles just came in the mail, costing me 120 euro including shipping. And I should mention this is because the internet store that sold me a copy before I got this one cancelled my order 5 days after accepting it and I was already set on having it no matter what.

What's your most overpriced purchase of a game, accessory or console? (taking into account the normal price, ofcourse)

The most I've ever spent on a game was 30 dollars for a (new) retail copy. If I think something is overpriced, I don't buy it.

Monster Hunter Tri collector edition
Alone in the Dark collector edition

Yes I am a sucker for collector edition! In hindsigh, AiTD was a waste of money especially when the game was awful and while MHT was a fun game, it was not worth getting the collector edition since I should of bought the cheaper edition that came with the control pad (the microphone thing and the small head statue was not worth the extra cost).

Also, OP you're going to have fun with Xenoblade Chronicle and will loved the soundtrack!

Certainly the Collector's Edition of Assassin's Creed III. $129 I think it was. I really wanted that flag, and the statue is nice, but the game was a big letdown for me, and since the game is the main part of the package, that hurt. I still have the flag and statue, but I traded the game in after I got the platinum--which is something I don't normally do with my games. I keep them.

Not mine but a friends, and I'll be very surprised if - on a basis of quality to dollar - anyone beats it for sheer rip off factor.

Golden Fighter. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=23vGIEW_c3w

Back on the hot hype of SF2's release for the SNES in the early 90's, this pile of trash found it's way into the UK market and was widely hyped as "SF2 meets Final Fight" amongst gaming gossip circles.

Rare as rocking horse shit because of the import nature, everyone I knew into games wanted a peice of it from seeing only a few screenshots in the bag of an old mag of something like C&VG or Mean Machines (can't remember which). I mean, someone who we barely knew told us it was "SF2 meets final Fight" so it's got to be awesome right?

Lo and behold, a dodgy games dealer named "Supa Swap", who incidently had a bulbus bald head and (most importantly), huge pinocchio nose, saw the excitement in my mates eyes when he spotted the cart in his swap shop van. As my mate made for the cart he asked "how much for this?", to which Supa Swap replied in a typical, breath through the teeth con man style "everyone's after this down town, I'm just taking it to someone now, you can't have it". The tension built, my friends urges kicked in, and he was begging Supa Swap to sell it to him. "I'm coming out here for chicken feed, I can't let it go for no less than £70"

And thus a deal was done. £70.

Using the inflation calculator that's £131 by today's standards, which would be $195 dollars.

For Golden Fighter.

The biggest, steaming, most unplayable, horrible peice of shit game I think I've ever played.

We gave it 15 min and, after none-stop piss taking of our mate, watched him try and call Supa Swap again and again to get him back. Alas, he was lumbered with it.

Happy times :)

Pfft being reasonable is so boring.

OT: i bought suikoden 3 for about 100$ CND a couple of years ago. I was worth it to complete the collection but that game was terrible.

I've bought the beta access and life-time subscription to Hellgate:London. I won't even name the price, because then i'd have to slap myself.

The statue is still standing around though.

Only if your idea of excitement is spending as much money as possible.

We have reality tv shows and movies based around people who spend as much money as possible. If not exciting, spending money is at least entertaining apparently xD.

My Xbox 360 Elite. It broke down three times, only one of which was repaired under warranty. What a fucking piece of crap. I quite regret that purchase.

I ended up buying a PS3 slim a few years later and all I keep wishing is that I had done the inverse and bought the PS3 when it was first released and then bought the slim version of the xbox 360. *sigh* Hindsight is a *****.

Borderlands 2 Ultimate Loot Chest edition. I recently sold it, but I had to buy it for $220 although it retailed at about...I want to say $130-$150. I had to go to Ebay because it sold out so quick. I took it in to a second-hand game shop and they called over all the other employees and they all gushed over it. Then I was offered $55 even though it was 100% complete, while the pile of 3DS titles got me around one hundred dollars. Then I had to use all of it to buy a used 3DS XL because mine had broken down, as to why I needed the money in the first place.

EDIT: Oh, I spent $100.99 on both Tomba! games plus shipping once. Both were in mint condition, unsealed though, and sold together. I ended up trading those in as well, not even getting half my investment back, and I used the money on Taco Bell. Mmm. Taco Bell. *Looks over at copy of Tail Concerto*

Recently, I think that title goes towards Tales of Xillia 2 Collector's Edition at $129.99 original market price at my local GameStop without tax... I mean, most of the collector's editions I end up buying usually never go over $99.99 without tax, but this specific CE was $30 more than the Tales of Xillia Collector's Edition and was in a slightly bigger box when I compared both CEs side-by-side...

Other than that, when I finally bought the Persona Q 3DS XL for myself, it was $174.99 instead of $199.99 since my local GameStop was already taking New 3DS XL pre-orders at the time...

Perhaps not quite so bad as that but I got even less out of it: I have the Star Trek Online Gold Edition and bought a Lifetime Subscription. Not a statue or anything, just a T-shirt that by the gods I'm never going to wear and some admittedly nice in-game stuff that's now useless because I don't play anymore. I've got tons of in-game premium currency saved up too because of their stipend system for life subs, but I rarely log in.

What else...oh I overpaid significantly for a brand new copy of Final Fantasy VI for PS1. It was the only one I could get that I didn't have but I put off buying it for years. It was in the shops for maybe £10-20 and I kept saying "Ah I'll get it some other time". Then shops stopped selling PS1 games. I think I paid about £60 for it. >_>

Probably a few other things too. Some I got lucky on though. In a non-game example I managed to get my hands on a high-quality second hand metal box set of Neon Genesis Evangelion Platinum Collection last year for around £70-80 or something like that. Price on amazon right now is somewhere around £130 minimum.

Well, it might be the collector's edition of Skyrim... at Australian prices, too. Though I still don't regret it!
But even more costly has been my Star Citizen ship collection. I'm at roughly $500, USD. That's not a lot compared to some other backers, but it's still the most I've spent on any one game.

I remember buying an anime series for around $120 I believe, then looking at ebay 2-3 months later and finding the exact same anime for $20... I just laid in bed for the rest of the day calling myself a moron.

Arc the Lad Collection. Bought it for MSRP when it came out. I think that was $99? Looking at the amount of time I spend playing those games (200+ hours) I got my money's worth, but it kinda hurts to see the games on PSN for like $5.

I'd say that Modern Masters pack I bought Sunday... But I pulled a Cryptic Command, so cash in pocket!

Mine was £60, a copy of The Legend of Zelda, Twilight Princess for the Gamecube. It was rare, I wanted it on the Gamecube, and it was overpriced. But it was completely worth it. Absolutely love my gamecube version, a lot more than I like the wii version. I still play it and still enjoy it and have done a fair few run throughs. I guess I got my money's worth.
