Been there, done her.

If you will not serve in combat then you will serve on the firing line!

Well, off to visit your mother!

Never make fun of someone until you have walked a mile in their shoes........cause then you're a mile away and in their shoes!

What if the light at the end of a tunnel is actually a train?

If at first you don't succeed, call in an air strike.
If the airstrike doesnt work, nuke the place.

the only motto that I have actually liked more than a casual interest in it afterward is this quote by Groucho Marx.
"Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Forget Yesterday- Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day- Today. I'm going to be happy in it."

that and my Grandma still uses the saying
"För Sverige- i tiden" meaning "For Sweden- with the Times"

It's easy to get bored of being human, which is why it helps to remember that every human is technically half-minotaur. http://rockpapercynic.com/index.php?date=2009-11-30

And here's one I live by: The truth will set you free, whether you like it or not.

I see a few motto's and a lot of geeky movie or game quotes. Most of them would not help you in real life.

My favorite ones on leadership (good for management):
- never explain, never complain
- We will either find a way, or make one (Hannibal)
- I never saw a pessimistic general win a battle (Eisenhower)
- You know what's at the bottom of the mainstream? Mediocrity (Visconte)
- ask yourself, ?How bad will things be if I DON?T do it??

"If you see something move, shoot it. If it screams in German, shoot it again" - Before rushing into a smokescreened area in Brothers in Arms

"Don't be afraid to try something new. Remember that a lone amateur built the Ark, and that a group of proffessionals built the Titanic" - Can't remember where I saw this first, but I live by it =P

"When in doubt, empty the magazine" - From MW2 boot camp achievments =P

I don't actually have one, but if I'm asked what it might be I always say this.

"No problem is so big or so complicated that it can't be run away from."

It's from Peanuts... how surprising.

"Take everything in stride. When that fails, flip out and unleash 11 barrels of hell on whatever gets in your way."

Also, "The observant live longer".
