if your kid brother had bad experiences socialising before he went into this mmo .. then beware .. they tend to think "why go outside, life sucks .. out there i'm just a nobody .. in here i'm a level cap rogue that's respected by all and can wtfpwn everyone in 2 shots"

if it gets REALLY bad then do him a favor and cancel his suscription before it gets out of hand and potentially ruins him ... just try to keep him in touch with reality, the outdoors .. get him a hobby to do on the side .. most of the time it's never that extreme but i really REAAALY wouldn't take the risk (especially with someone so young)

I play World of Warcraft and have played other subscription based MMORPG's such as Lord of the Rings online.
Personally I don't find the cost to be an issue, compared with some of the money I have spent on below par games in the past.
As a gamer who used to buy 4-5 full price games a month, subscribing to just one saves me a great deal of money.

I feel that Blizzard do enough in terms of new content to make the game worth playing, and at the end of the day WOW is no different that paying for content that for example EA release for their games.
In fact I'd rather spend my time taking on a new raid with people I enjoy spending time with than paying for a code to unlock a car already on the game disk, or an up to date roster.

All in all some games are more addictive than others, and a MMORPG specializes in making sure there is always an upgrade, always something more to do.
The game comes with parental controls to limit play time, and surely that's where the issue lies.

Personally I would allow a child of mine to play, but I would certainly limit the time he or she played, but that goes for any game.
