What's your reaction time like? Do players who favor first person shooters have the fastest times?

This is the simplest cross-platform test I could find (and it's the first result on Google for "reaction time test"). [http://getyourwebsitehere.com/jswb/rttest01.html]

That's about a typical range: for me, the low end is 205-215 ms, the middle is around 220-230 ms, and the high is around 250-260 ms.

I predominantly play first person shooters and I do fairly well, but I think I'd play strategy games more if I was any durn good at them :(

I got a .2334, and I don't OWN a single FPS except Goldeneye. I don't really know if this MEANS anything...

0.249 and I play quit a few shooters. I suppose the theory may have merit but the person to person variance would likely be too high for a serious test unless you got a very wide audience.

I'm at 0.236, which isn't bad, but isn't good either. I don't play too many FPSs, since I'm an RTS kind of guy.

0.345, in my defence its 5am and I should be asleep instead of taking reaction time tests...

Also, I rarely play FPSs

My average was a .2024, but I scored a 0.089 on my second try and a 0.036 on my fourth! I play a lot of shooters :D Though I messed up on my third which nailed me with a .445, which screwed up my average.

I don't know how I hit a .089 nor a .036, I think I just got twitchy and happened to hit it at a good time. (Though the .445 was a mistake)

Well considering 150ms is how long it takes for the human visual system to process an image, it seems like you were just really lucky.

Mine was .35ish, but I'm not so good at these kinds of things; I tend to freak out whenever the light pops up and hit it way after I should. Surprisingly enough, I'm a pretty good test taker. And come to think of it, my reaction time is terrible, so that might be an accurate reading.

I don't believe in luck, but I get your point :p I still found it interesting to get two of them so close together.

Well FPSs aren't as much about reaction time as they are hand-eye coordination imo.

.445(thought the yellow light would flash first)
.253 (got the hang of it
.247 (seeing a trend)
.277 (starting to like my reaction time)
.061 (....the fuck?)

avg= .236799999999999999999999999999999....
(to be fair this does accurately represent my reaction time if you take the median rather than the mean)

Yeah hitting that made me feel good too (.061). Funny story: I actually just started spamming the mouse button to see if I could beat either of our times and I couldn't.

Last I heard: "FPS gamers are more observant of their surroundings than the average Joe". I don't want to research it anymore because it'll probably drag us back through the dirt for starting Columbine or something.

I would say anything under 0.25 average would be good enuff. I got 0.23 average and thats good enough for a 3:1 kd ratio for mw2 and about a 1.5:1 kd ratio on css lately so Im happy with that.
