I would probably say the movie Session 9 was a masterpiece of a horror movie. It's extremely creepy and there's no bullshit to startle us. It just fucking scares us.

Probably Metal Gear Solid 2 Sons of Liberty.

It had a great plot and a wonderfully artistic message at the end.

Raiden was, in my opinion a great character for the same reasons Yahtzee thinks the Prince Farah from sands of time are great characters. Because he is genuinely flawed and human. The kind of person doubts himself, makes mistakes and complains. He represents the frail and weak human race in a very compelling way.

Jak and Daxter 2.

Story, gameplay, level design, amazingness. Its all there
It was indeed well done, and one of the greater games, but I wouldn't define it as art in that manner.
Why not? A game with an amazing storyline of betrayal and corruption, that still managed to make light of it self at every turn.
It was just a bit too silly. Don't get me wrong, silly can be great, but it mixed gritty seriousness and an angry protagonist with a wise-cracking weasel. It didn't tug my heart strings or give me a emotional realization (although it was great fun). Don't know, just didn't feel like it was art.
Meh, who am I to say your wrong. Like all art, its up to your own opinion
Well said, my dear monocle-wearing sir.

Yoshi's Island, I think. On the SNES.

Jet Set Radio on the Dreamcast, even though Jet Set Radio Future has better controls.

The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker.

For gaming, Silent Hill 2, funnily enough. Phenomenal Freudian nightmare that's yet to be matched in this medium (if ever).

Mother 3 is my Silent Hill 2. Story, Characters, Humor, Gameplay, it's all there. And it all comes at such a high caliber.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow Of Chernobyl with my own tweak of the AMK mod. The gritty deep realism mixed and the broken down yet beatiful surroundings. It pretty much reminds me of when i was really young and broke into run-down industrial complexes. The first time i played it i hadn't really played FPS's that much, at least none as complex. It was kind of like getting thrown into an actual warzone as a civilian with no prior knowledge on how to fight. That makes it even more satisfying to come out on top of the game as a full-fledged veteran. Sadly, that probably means that i will never experience anything quite like that again.

I gotta say Final Fantasy 7. Yes I'm a fanboy. I love this game. Sephiroth scares me; Aeris made me cry; Barrett, Cid, and the Turks make me laugh; I gat a large variety of emotions when playing this game and, if I'm not mistaken, that is the purpose of art.

...but then again, I've never completed Silent Hill 2 so Silent Hill 2 might be my Silent Hill 2.

Pikmin and Pikmin 2.

There is just some sort of appeal to those two games that no other game can match.

Despite his avid atheism, he really had an amazing imagination
Please tell me this doesn't mean what it sounds like it means.
I don't know what you're thinking about, because what I mean is his imagination was so incredibly vivid, he created entire bizarre dreamscapes and alien worlds and underground civilizations, plus the essential Mythos creatures. He didn't directly describe them, but gave you enough to give a sense of dread and awe.
'Cthuhlu slid greasily into the water and gave chase'. Freakishly descriptive, in my opinion. His most full description was for his crowning horror, Great Cthulhu which is described several times in The Call of Cthulhu. A description is never given for Azathoth or Shub-Niggurath, but the monikers 'Blind Idiot God' and 'Black Goat of the Woods' are enough to inspire fear. Monsters needen't necessarily be dripping with slime or covered in spikes and have descriptions that might has well have been drawn to save time.
Shapeless, indescribable, protean, unspeakable, blasphemous: words that give you the perfect yet imperfect impression of Lovecraft's creations.

A game? CoD4. I love it, and consider it to be mankind's greatest achievement to date... Yes I'm a fanboy, but everything about the game was perfect for me, from the startling use of visual storytelling, to the ending, which is (to me) simply fantastic.

Other than video games? It comes down to a choice between The Road or All Quiet on the Western Front. The Things They Carried is also towards the top of the list.
