The only way I've seen folks fuck themselves up with marijuana or mushrooms is legal trouble, so I'm fine with those.

...I'm not cool with any opiates I've encountered, at least when used long-term (including pharmaceutical opiates). Morphine is great for a gunshot wound, but it's not a good fix for chronic pain. Oh wait, you said recreational use. Opiates are bad, mmkay?

Not that I want to ostracize all people who use hard illicit (or prescription) drugs recreationally... I just think those who become addicted have a tendency to hurt people around them and need to have help available when they can commit to detox.
Also, I do tend to avoid junkies... I'm not rich enough to help more than one at a time.

I smoke cannabis frequently, smoke cigarettes/cigars and drink.

I'm in favor of legalization for cannabis, and I don't see anything wrong with people trying ecstasy or cocaine (too expensive and unhealthy to make a habit of it in my opinion). On the other hand, I think that anyone who does heroin, crack, meth is a fucking idiot.

About as Straight of an arrow as they come. I've never tried a thing.

Until you affect me personally, I do not care what you do with drugs.

I'm only just beginning - I intend to try pretty much all of them before I die (although definitely doing the destructive, addictive ones nearer the end).

Doing drugs habitually isn't something I approve of, however. If it's something like coffee then it's fine, but if you're regularly drinking too much or smoking too much weed, then you're using them to cover up a problem, which is going to cause harm.
Point of order, a coffee addiction is covering up for a problem too -- lack of sleep, usually caused by jobs that start earlier than the average person's biorhythms. Plenty of harm is caused by that.

OT: Personally, I think it should all be legal, and I really don't care what someone does to their own body. Prohibition is largely the problem, not the solution.

As for personal drug use, alcohol is about it. Tobacco doesn't interest me, and the absurd punishments that come with getting caught with anything else are enough to keep me away from them.

Some are fine in moderation, but there are a few that are never a good idea to use (meth, pcp, bath salts etc). As long as you maintain some level of lucidity after using a drug or take proper measures to be sure you wont do anything stupid, dangerous, violent or illegal (ie. having a 'trip sitter') then you're in the clear as far as I'm concerned. I'd recommend against the more addictive and abusable drugs, but I don't see the use of them as inherently immoral.

As far is use goes, I haven't used marijuana since high school, which was 4 years ago : \
(it's weird to think that I've been out of high school for as long as I was in high school)

Weed, booze, cigarettes, all fine in my book.

So long as people understand the dangers posed by drugs, and they aren't a danger to others while under the influence, then they should be able to get as buzzed as they desire.

Harder stuff like coke though, I think it's still good if that's illegal. Those drugs can get dangerous very quickly.

Barring copious amounts of alcohol I've never taken drugs, nor do I smoke. I don't have any qualms about people using marijuana; as I don't really see how it's any more pernicious than tobacco or alcohol. Like a few others here I feel people should be able to do what they please with their bodies and while I may think people who habitually use heavy drugs must have some kind of fucking death wish, I'm not going to lecture anybody; they're grown ass adults, they know the risks, let them be responsible for their own actions. >.>

People should be able to use drugs (so long as they are legally an adult by the laws of their country[footnote]Yes, I know the number is arbitrary, but I can't be arsed arguing for age 25[/footnote]). But distribution should be heavily regulated, blah blah stuff that you aren't asking about blah blah.

As for how I feel about using drugs? Don't. They're dangerous, they f*** with your brain, a lot of them are addictive, they cost money, some of the heavier ones make you a flight hazard for everyone around you, and I think you are an idiot if you are willing to violate your own mind for a few temporary kicks.

I'm very liberal on the subject. But I have to be with how much I take... ahaha. I see no issue with weed, especially in a society with legal booze. I've played with heroins and other opiates and came out just fine and not addicted. Hard hallucinogens like, acid, mushrooms are also pretty fantastic. The magical half dozen can be truly magical. Good mdma is amazing. Uppers like coke and meth I avoid because I'm aleeady a bit spazzy. But I know plenty of people who can enjoy them and not become addicted.

It all depends on the person their own chemistry and will power.

To the guy saying taking drugs keeps you from seeing real beauty? Drugs aren't real? Do you really think all lof us are escaping reality? Or that we understand that a little dab of powder can provide hours of fun? I eat carrots to get vitamin a so I can see in the dark. I take 2ci so I can see the sky arrange into a grid of perfect diamonds swirling in on themselves. Or a couple mushrooms and see the blue of the sky become a swirl of rainbow like oil on water. You know... awesome shit. It's fucking beautiful knowing one drop of a random chemical can make me see fractals. Knowing that my brain is capable producing of absurdly precise mathematical images.

I consider both intoxication and addiction to be abhorrent, the latter in particular. The human mind is one of the few things we actually have going for us as a species, deliberately tossing it in the gutter for the sake of some extra endorphin is incredibly stupid. Doing it in order to see pretty lights like the poster above me apparently chooses to do is even worse.

As a result, I'm willing to tolerate alcohol and marijuana use, so long as both are used in a pseudo responsible manner. On the other hand, I have reason to question whether or not marijuana can be used responsibly, since I've never actually seen a weed user capable of restraining themselves for any great length of time.

As for other drugs, nicotine included, I'd toss them all out the window if given the means to do so.

I don;t know

I don;t know if its just the message I got when I was a kid but to me it was just.....wrong

I mean I've relaxed my view a bit..but there's always something that rubs me the wrong way about the Idea

I mean before that it was just plain wrong and people who did it were bad people...

morally, I think if you want to shoot yourself up, I really don't care, after all it's your life. granted, I would probably try to talk you out of it, and depending on what you are doing, you could endanger others, which would be morally wrong.
the moral quagmire is really in the fact that someone is going to be making money off of your suffering, and that person is definitely in the wrong morally.

My view on drugs is pretty one sided. I view them incredibly harshly. Marijuana is probably the only exception that gets a bit of slack. That's only because of how widely common it is. The people use them however are a completely different story. I feel for them. My parents are heavy drug users that are into heroin and cocaine. I can't be apart of their lives because of how deep they are in their addictions. I don't buy the whole I only use drugs for fun and to relax line. Sooner or later the same shit happens and they can't stop.

Drugs? Well...I don't believe drugs are bad. I don't believe they ever were. Drugs do...what they're supposed to do. If you are too preoccupied to learn what a drug does and has the potential to do in this age of the internet...then you deserve what happens to you. Some drugs are Ok, some drugs aren't - you just have to figure out which is which. End of story.

Not a fan of tabaco, but it's your right. Please just be considerate about it, not everyone likes the smell. I think smokers get targetted unfairly and villanized. From what I can tell most smokers already feel pretty bad about not being able to quit.

Alcohol is fine. Iffy over what's the appropriate age. Just, don't try to drive.

The enforcement and propagandic lie campaigns against pot is costing not only the government, but also communitys greatly. Statistics show (and our legal system doesn't help this) that people who spend time in prison between the ages of 18 and 25 are incredibly more likely to spend the rest of their lives in and out of prison.

I'm skeptical of more elicit drugs becuase they destroy people, and they end up homeless, crazy, and most-likely criminals.

I'm curious about what people will say about taking perscription drugs recreationally. A lot of them won't do harm if you don't drink or take too many, because after all they're ment for regular use. A lot of them are addictive though.

My basic thinking about is: If you're a consenting adult and it won't effect anyone other than consenting adults, then it's fine.

Don't use any myself. Nor will I. Don't have anything against those using them, except those who harm others due to their use - like Meth users, for instance, who rob people to fund their addiction.

I've never had an alcoholic drink, nor will I ever have one. My teetotalism isn't due to religion - it's just due to the fact that I don't like what alcohol does to the human mind and to the brain. But that's my choice. It's not the choice of others, nor will I force that choice on them. I am absolutely against prohibition - almost as much as I am against drinking itself.

I know too many good, nice, hardworking people who enjoy a beer or two to write off anyone who uses alcohol. Many of my colleagues drink alcohol. My parents used to drink alcohol. I have nothing against anyone who drinks within reason and who doesn't drink and drive.

But I'm not joining them in their good times. I will always remain sober. No recreational drugs, no alcohol, no smoking. That's just my choice but I'll stick with it.
