The other day, I mentioned to my friend that I liked to go online and look at art galleries. He thought that was a weird thing to do.

So, fellow escapists, what's your "weird" interest?

Edit: I forgot to mention that my weird interest is staring at strangers.

Taking pictures of the feet of old men.
I don't know why, but there's just something about those wrinkles....

Hurray! A fellow people watcher. My friends always say its strange how I look through people car/house windows as I pass by to see what it looks like inside or what they are doing.

Key word there is pass buy, I don't stand in front of a house watching people eat dinner for 15minutes I just watch people for a bit when the chance arrises. It's always interesting to see the human in its (un?)natural habitat.

The other thing is not really an interest but just something that people (who don't know me) find well.... sadly many find it shocking. If there is a dead animal I will will pick it up and look at it, so long as I can PICK it up and don't have to scoop it up in pieces.

Quick funny story. My dad is a biologist and so when he was in his late/early 20/30's he would take home dead animals (mainly birds) and freeze them or let they decompose outside so that he could later remove a nice skull for his collection.

Needless to say one of his girlfriends came over for the first time, proceeded to grab some ice and freaked the hell out. "UUUUUUUMMMMMM.... I believe there are some dead woodpeckers and doves in your freezer."

Ponies. I like both the show and the culture around it, but Bronie culture from an anthropological perspective fascinates me. It would help my research by years if I could only figure out if some really do have a sexual attraction to the ponies. A couple say they do, but i can't tell if they're joking.

Given the level of depravity people are capable of I'd say they're not joking.

That being said, the ponies in order of hotness go

Pinkie Pie
Fluttershy
Applejack
Twilight Sparkle
Rainbow Dash
Rarity

The top 2 are interchangeable and anyone who thinks otherwise is wrong ;)
Fluttershy is pretty darn cute.
If I ever have something, like space marine armor, I can airbrush something on, it will Fluttershy.
Just because.

Based on some pictures of Big Macintosh and Fluttershy I've seen online (pretty NSFW), I'd say some people do.
If you're curious, just image search Fluttershy with safesearch off.

Jellyfish...

I mean look at them! Completely brainless lifeforms, yet some species of jellyfish have evolved to reach biological immortality (something I crave very much for myself, but without the brainlessness of course since my brain is probably my funniest organ I've got and with a somewhat dirty imagination I think you can guess what my next funniest organ would be).

I kid you not, the Turritopsis nutricula is actualy able to revert back to it's polyp-state after reaching sexual maturity (in essence, it can go back to being a little baby after having been an adult), and for all intents and purposes it can do this indefinetly and never have to die of old age.

Now, you tell me that this ISN'T interesting, yet a pretty wierd thing to be interested in? :p

I quite enjoy reading up oh particle physics. I'm not schooled in it and I certainly don't have the mathmatical background necessary to understand most of it, but the ideas are always fascinating to me.

Also I've been trying to teach myself how to write code, and I suppose that's a non-standard interest.

I type pretty much everything that I need to do (wash my car, buy groceries, do laundry, etc.) on my computer. I keep track of how much money I spend, how much I eat, how much I weigh, what games/music albums/ movies I intend to buy next, how much they cost, and a crapload of other things.

We share the same strange interest. Ever since last summer when a current sent thousands of small purple ones to our local beaches I've been consumed! I don't understand how something can terrify, disgust and fascinate me so much at the same time. And it seems everything I learn about them magnifies every one of those feelings.

I hadn't heard that one before... Thanks!

I enjoy painting. Not just art, I actually like painting walls and such too. It gives me space to be alone with myself and think through any problems/plans I have. I can be alone while doing it because, let's be honest, nobody's going to volunteer to help paint, it's seen a drudgery. Also, the simple rhythm of painting is conducive to deep thought.
