And not yet done. I for one eagerly await the day i can descend on my local waterstones with rabid glee to pick up book 13.

Not looking forward ot the tv series as much. Even if it based only on "The Eye of the World" there is just far to much that could go wrong and ruin it.
The mmo on the other hand i want just as long there is both a "sniff" and a "tug braid" emote lol

It would be (and I feel the word is appropriate) EPIC if they made a series of movies about the books. It would be LOTR times ten. But thats never gunna happen.

How about a "roll eyes" and "macho posturing" emote?

Anyway, WoT would probably suffer some serious adaptation decay. I can guarantee they'd get Mat wrong, and then I'd have to murder them.

Because it's fucking long, and the only way you could properly showcase it would be to remove 90% of the plot (considering how convoluted and difficult it can be to follow all the different threads) so that the average American movie-goer could understand what the hell was happening.

Also, comparing the depth of LotR to the WoT is silly. To properly do a WoT movie, each movie would have to be upwards of four hours long, and that's threadbare minimum.

I mean, you could cut out the character development stuff... but then what's left?

Also, read the entire series. It's not called the ultimate American fantasy for nothing.

Apparently Universial picked up the license to make Wheel of Time movie/s.

Aaaaand as for Wheel of Time games, Obsidian is apparently making [at least] one:

There was the older game, which was created by a "Legend Entertainment" (or so the case says), which wasn't that bad, though it was set in an alternate reality from the actual series of books. The plot was also rather different.

The amount of work needed to make a movie or a decent game (I've only played a very tiny bit of that FPS based on it, but I haven't heard much good) is staggering. Frankly, the fact that they're making one at all astounds me, even as I think that would be the most awesome thing ever. And I'm still looking forward to what Obsidian will do with the series.

Especially since I've stuck with the series for a while, and The Gathering Storm is one of the most awesome things ever written.

Didn't the author die in the middle of finishing this series? I heard this series is long but quite well written.

Not in the middle. He died just after book 12 I think, but he had already finished how the story would play out, just hadn't written the final two books. I think it's two.

All in all I thought the series drags on a bit much. Great books, just too long-winded. I never made it past book 7 or 8 or whatever. I like the Song of Ice and Fire (game of thrones et. al) series much better.

also, in response to "why doesn't it have a series of movies out yet" in the OP: It took a good 60 years for movies to be made of LOTR and that's a far more popular and influential (and shorter) series than WoT

I would agree with people that say the movie would be too long and complex to be considered viable by companies. LoTR worked (depending who you talk to) because tolkein spent a quarter of each book talking about any variety of unimportant things. Robert Jordan had most of the content being useful and relevant. Also I guess they don't want fans to expect them to make the 11 other movies. The first book is long? I won't say it is short but it is as thick as many novels I read.

The Wheel Of Time is one the best series I've read , but it si long and is getting a little

bit longer thanks to Brandon Sanderson taking the helm. They did make a game for it awhile

back ago it was more like a fps. And as another guy above me said universal did aquire the

liscence to start a project based on the WoT, but I think they've had it for awhile. and if

you think the first few books are long wait till you get around the middle of the series.

There are no shortcuts to the Wheel of Time. You gotta read 'em all.

Trust me though, it's well worth it.
THAT'S arguable. The author kinda died a few years back and most of the books past the ninth one tend to just draaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag.

I haven't read book 12 yet, how much of it is taken up by Egwene basically dicking around in Mary Sue mode and nobody accomplishing anything?

..."most" of the books past the ninth one?

I thought the complaints were about 7-10 dragging. 11 picks up, and 12 is great.

0%, or thereabouts.
