So when did you stop liking the Final Fantasy series if you ever liked it at all?

for me it started sliding downhill at 9 and went dead at 10. I recently got FF crisis core hoping that would spark some mild interest in the FF series but alas it failed horribly >.<

It was showing signs of dying during 10 and then had a heart attack in 12.

It has not died for me. Sure, I did not really like X (and I seem to be the only one that didn't), but the series is still one of my favorites.

about 20 minutes into number 8 (which was really number 1 as far as anyone had heard of)

yeah might as well come out and say it: I hate FF

Never played it. So I guess it died with the Final one. Haha, pun there, see...?

It seems that the earlier in the series people begin to hate it, the bigger of a computer game snob they are, In my experience anyway

9 was the last good one. I just say started going downhill cause they did my most hated thing in a game. after you fight who you think is the final boss they bring some character that you have never even heard of or was mentioned to fight. but again 9 was the last good one ^^

It hasn't died for me. The spin offs such as crystal chronicles can go screw themselves but the main games are pretty strong. I hated FFXII's battle mechanics and the stupid distance between places but still enjoyed the story.I don't know why people hated FFX apart from the excessive cutscenes/dialogue (...and the less said about the laughing scene the better). The battle mechanics were well thought out and you levelled your character as opposed to it being done for you.

Saying this... I've always been an exception to the rule. I thought FFVI and FFVII were fun and enjoyable but not as revolutionary as people say. I prefer FFV and FFVIII personally, FFV because of the job system and the mind-f*** story and FFVIII because of the... well... the mind-f*** story again. There were problems with both games but personally they shine strong.

I am eagerly awaiting FFXIII and I'm glad that it has incorporated the old fighting style. I can't afford a PS3 so thank god it's on the Xbox360, much to the hate of this guy:

Ahh... god this video makes me laugh every time, I apologise if people are sick of it but it makes me laugh.

There were only a few Final Fantasy (FF) games I played and fully enjoyed: FF 5, FF 1 (GBA), FF Tactics and FF Adventure.

Funnily enough these incorporated the job system which I always thought was the best character building system, in my opinion. Each one tinkering with the idea slightly to keep it familiar but still fresh that it made the micro-managing in the games still fun. The exception of FF Adventure as that was possibly the father of the Mana series.

FF X-2 did have the job system, but it didn't hold my interest to keep playing it. Getting back on track and excluding the games mentioned above...I tried nearly every FF game ever released and I just couldn't find any interest in the first 5 hours.
