When did you come to the Escapist, and why?

How long ago did you come to the Escapist, what brought you to the Escapist/interested you and what made you stay?
I came cause my brother-in-law showed me Zero Punctuation, about 2 years ago, and I stayed for the videos and reviews and the magazine and have recently fallen in love with the forum

I came in early 2008 to watch Zero Punctuation. I occasionally watched other things but that was the main reason I came. I didn't sign up for the site until late 2009 and I didn't start posting in the forums on a regular basis until around October of last year.

I originally came to the Escapist three years ago because I had heard of ZP and decided to check it out. I went a year without making an account because ZP was the only thing I came here for at first, but then Unskippable made its debut and I started getting curious about some forum topics and decided to create my account. And now here we are 2 years and almost 3000 posts later.

Like many of the people here, I originally came to this site because of Zero Punctuation, I think that would've been two or three years ago, it was back when he was still picking songs to go with the game he was reviewing (as opposed to just using his opening theme thing). It's something that I miss. Anyways, I eventually noticed that people on the forums would often bring up interesting things, and after a month or so of occasional lurking I joined the forums. That was back when there wasn't a separate religion and politics forum btw, and I think that ridiculous hot bed environment of the R&P stuff in the off topic forum where everyone got in on it was part of what really got me involved in the forums. Though admittedly, it is probably for the best that it's off in its own little corner now, where I'm too lazy to go visit it and have my ire raised.

I showed up a few years ago for unforgotten realms, which I originally got hooked on the older, poorly animated, "classic" episodes when I checked out Robert Morans channel after watching some of his older WoW machinima on none other than youtube.

Zero Punctuation, when Yahtzee first started posting videos on here.
It was a while before I actually made an account, mind, but I kept looking at the topics and found that the community was pretty cool too. And I wanted to be a part of that.

I've stayed because I still love the community, even though it's changed (I'm not saying for better or for worse, but it's definitely changed) since I first joined/started lurking. And the other content around here (apart from ZP that is) has steadily gotten better too, in my opinion. ^_^

I came here because I was following Shamus Young's blog and some of his work was going on The Escapist. I think that was probably about 2 years ago.
