When I was still in dipers I would watch my dad play a game called Ularn (which is "Ultimate Larn" for you not familiar), and as soon as I was able to understand how to play, I was hooked on pretty much any Rogue based game.

Rogue, Larn, Angband, netHack, et.al. were my first video game addictions. Longest lasting too, I still play them from time to time.

I must play this game.

But for me, it was probably the Ratchet & Clank series.

EDIT: No,Scratch that. Way before I had a PS2, I went to Day-Care. My Aunt, who ran the Day-care, had a...Really old console that i can't remember the name of. anyway, when the younger kids(between 2-5) had to Nap, the older kids would go in the basement and play games until they woke up. We'd while away those two hours playing games like Sonic 2,Super Mario 3, and some Tank simulator that we all sucked at. thats probably what did it.
Along with Pokemon games, I swear those things taught me to read.

Mine was orginally Dungeon keeper 2 and then when i got Diablo 2 thats when i really got addicted to playing video games. Before that though it was the countless hours spent on my Sega master system playing Sonic and some Ninja game (cant quite remember its name though).
yeah, i remember playing the original diablo with my best friend at his house, fucking bombest time ever had, started my love of games without a doubt

Started with my parents buying a atari, that got me hooked. ( favorite game: anything star wars )

Then it got bad with nintendo as i was then introduced into RGP's. ( favorite game: the first final fantasy, zelda and contra )

Super NES and genesis pretty much doomed me to video games ( lol )...(favorite game: all phantasy stars and shinobi for the genesis and for super nes was mario kart,FF2 and zelda )

The final hook was computer games ( favorite game: started with betrayal at krondor and some military sims like AH-64 apache game and falcon 3.0 along with some kick ass wing commander )

Now im currently hooked on mmo's like WoW...

I currently kinda wish for a golden age again like in the 16bit era.

Good ole' CnC (back when Westwood was in control) got me hooked on the RTS genre.
Oblivion is the game that got me almost literally addicted to gaming.

ummm....I really didn't start going to forum's based off games until I played Duke Nukem 3D or Marathon. I can't remember which one.

What started me to gaming was Super Mario Bros 3

Hmm i remember my older cousin dumping limitless amounts of quarters into dragons lair and i was like 0.0 this is the coolest shit ever. Then me and my granmother used to play pacman on the commodore something..the one after the 64 for hours. And me and my friend jimmy playing ghostbusters, hotwheels and aztec challenge on the com 64. These were all games that kinda lured and hooked me in. I wouldn't call myself an acutal gamer gamer until years later when megaman 3 changed mylife for ever. Haven't stopped since. There are alot of others mixed in their but thats the fairest answer i can give.
