I went for an eye exam yesterday because my vision has been kind of blurry for quite a while. I found out that I need glasses.

I'm getting them in about a week and a half.

So, to the escapist member who have glasses, When did you get them?
Also: To those of you who don't have glasses, but might be getting some, tell us when you'll be getting them.

I got mine about 4 years ago, and it's the same reason you're getting yours, my vision was going slowly to hell. Thankfully they haven't changed much at all since then, so that makes me very happy.

I got mine when I was about 15, cause I never said to anybody that I couldn't see that well, I thought it was normal. lol

Didn't start wearing them permanently till I was 18 though.

Yeah, I sit in front of the computer a lot. Sometimes in the dark, which isn't helping my eye sight. Hah!

I got mine when I was around 13, my eyesight is really crap now. I was thinking of getting lazer eye surgery, but it's really expensive, (they say £300 per eye, but apparently thats the simplest procedure, but it's more likely to be closer to £1000 per eye) And I don't have that kind of money yet. I don't mind glasses though. You only notice them when they break.

I got mine 3-4 years ago - I think. My memory is kinda crap - but I've needed glasses for over 10 years. I just didn't want the hassle. Plus I'm not among those lucky enough to look good in glasses.

My aunt finally made me go. No more squinting at the movie screen for me! Well, when I remember to wear them at least...

I've had them for a long while. I'm not really blind, but I get astigmatism. I'd have to squint to focus double-images.

Laser eye surgery: 19. Threw away glasses.

Go to doctor to find out that I have photo-phobia and night blindness: 23. Get more glasses.

My eyes = Worst eyes ever.

Got them when I was 7. My eyes have grown progressively worse. Doctor said they should stabilize soon, but, as is, I got baddddd eyesight.

I got mine when I was maybe 9 or 10. I can't read things more than a foot away without them. My eyesight isn't REALLY bad, though, I just couldn't read what my teacher wrote on the board among other things.

Uh, that's...pretty bad luck.

Could be worse though. You could be completely blind.

Got mine two years ago, couldn't see jack, but I was surprised when i found out that my numbers were only fractions - and that there are people with worse vision than me.
Since then My condition deteriorated by a quarter in one eye, so I think I'm fine so far.
The reason for my deteriorating vision is sitting on my computer for too long.
Which reminds me I need to make my 15 minute walk now since an hour just passed. But on the other hand, erm.... you know... I need to do stuff.

I actually can't remember. Maybe fifteen or something.

They'd recognised there was something up with my eyes when I was much younger, but nobody really felt like doing anything about it because it wasn't particularily bad. Then something happened and now I wear glasses. I don't really remember much.

This is true.

Though I pretty much am blind if i forget my sunglasses in the morning. Only throw some excruciating pain in there.

I was about 6 or so. I just had a minor case of lazy eye that was supposed to go away after a few weeks of wearing an eye patch.

...It didn't (even the eye doctors were stumped) now I'm 21 and still wearing glasses for the same weakened eye. I think at this point I'd have to get laser surgery if I ever wanted them gone.

I got them about a month after I got my license, I couldn't read road signs or license plates and that was a bit troublesome.

Aren't you not supposed to get laser surgery until your mid-20's to make sure the eyes have stopped changing?

I got mine when I was 14, so 7 years ago, and my prescription stayed the same until earlier this year when I was told I had astigmatism. I normally wear contact lenses though, but I go through sporadic periods where I wear my glasses for weeks at a time. I like the way I look in my glasses.
