This happens at some point to everyone more or less, life, work, family and other things squeeze out gaming for a lot of people because other things become far harder to do or are more important clearly than if you're playing games like you used to. You see it in gaming communities and with friends my question to you good people is when do you think this happens? Or is it happening or happened to you?

I will always be a gamer, in some form or another.

I know when I am older, I will still play with my friends and probably my wife/coworkers, and when I have kids... I'll play with them.

Money probably has something to do with it. When you're first getting out on your own and have a whole lot of new expenses and not a whole lot of disposable income, that's going to cut into your game time.

I will always play video games. It is happening to me right now that I'm not able to play as often as I'd like to but whenever I get the opportunity to I sit down and play a few rounds of something (depending on my mood).

i have had spans where i stopped because of school work, part time job and doing partial community service hours for school i had to postpone it but never just said i will never do it again (those have only lasted at the maximum about a month and a half)

they are fun and why would i get rid of something that i like?

If there are TF2/MapleStory/Left 4 Dead(2) servers up, then I'll have a game to play. And if not, then I can go play my friends old GameCube.

basically due to schoolwork and starting next sunday, a job on campus, my gaming time will be all but choked out. : (

I think you stop being a game rthough when you don't CARE that youaren't able to play. Once you forget to look at an internet site related in some way to games... then you've probably moved on out.

This question seems really simple. When do people stop being gamers? When they stop playing games. Why do they stop playing games? Well the reasons are limitless I could spend all day making up reasons and there'd still be someone with a reason that I didn't check and then there's reasons that I wouldn't consider legitimate reasons.

Life does get awefully hard and the harder life gets the less fun you have. Heck after 22 years my mom is finally going to go on real vacation. Playing games is like anything that amuses or entertains, it is about having fun and everyone likes to have fun but we don't always have time so it's not so much a question of whether we stop having fun and more like when will we have fun again.

The answer to that. Is soon.

You stop being a gamer when you die. And depending on whether there's an afterlife or not, then not even when you die.

There will be points in life where I'll be gaming a lot less than I am now, but I'm pretty sure that I'll never stop gaming altogether.

Possibly lack of free time would probably make some gamers not care about games anymore.

I'm enjoying reading these comments about people who say they'll always game! I remember chatting with my mother when I was much younger and saying I'll always watch nickelodeon. Why wouldn't I? It has such great programs like sabrina the teenage witch and kenan and kel!!

In my experience I play games less often when I'm working. Last few years I've either been in College or working. Whilst at College I can easily play some console games in my spare time or the evening, so i'm a casual gamer. I just can't do the obsessive PC games like play Dota for 10 hours a day.

Currently I'm unemployed since changing careers and I've plenty of time to play dota. I know for a fact that when I start my new 38hour week job where I'll have two days off a week. I'll be spending those days cleaning the house, going to the gym and working on my relationship with my partner. Gaming just won't be in there. I'll probably cut out playing dota completely via playing it less and less to the point where I just won't have the time to invest in playing. On the upshot I'll get back into console gaming and can enjoy a game like MW2 on singleplayer, only 6-8 hour game you say? It'll last me a good few months due to my lack of free time.

In short,

You'll game less when you start to settle down, i.e move out of the parents house, get a 'career', move in with the girlfriend which then leads onto having the wife and kids scenario- you just won't have the time to commit like you do at the moment.

Question is, why did I stop watching nickelodeon?

I will game in some form or another, whether it be hardcore or casual, I will still game for the rest of my life, and I will most likely keep playing hardcore games until I am dead, or until time ends, whichever comes last.
