Hello Escapist. Winter is supposed to be done. Spring has supposed to have started.

I do not look at the calendar for seasons. You see, I live in Saskatchewan. The land where weather doesn't follow the rules. For the past two months the weathermen have been promising that the snow is coming to an end and that Spring is right around the corner. I, like others, know them to be complete liars.

You see, for me, Spring arrives when there no more snow. Spring arrives when the snowing has stopped and all that has been left behind has melted. Spring arrives when all there is outside is a sea of mud and a few green things popping up.

No Lord Stark, it never ended.

I am in Saskatchewan and it is still winter.

So.

When does Spring begin for you?

It actually just started, about last week. Erie also get's a lot of strange weather, one time it snowed, rained, and was sunny all in the same day. The weather here is very sporadic but now that spring is here I can soak in the suns and then go back inside to my computer.

So much snow.

Sadly being from upside-down land (Australia) We are in Autumn so [small]Winter is coming[/small] But spring is September and that is cricket season so for me when I'm running in to bowl that is when I feel like Spring....has sprung.

It began officially back in March, but around here it's been zipping back and forth from 80 in the day, to 30 at night.

I miss my winter...

We don't have a Spring here in Los Angeles. We don't have an Autumn either. It's Summer then Winter. Winter ends mid-March and Summer ends mid-December really.

Spring doesn't ever really come around here. Temperatures range from below freezing to about 80 every other day and then once it gets stables its usually 80 - 90... Which is summer weather for around here.

So I have Summer, Autumn, Winter, schizophrenic summer.

This year it was around 23rd April when mild summer temperatures started. I'll need a frigging air conditioning unit if I plan to play anything this summer.

Spring is when it becomes mild enough to wear a pair of shorts, hike to a near-by village and have a traditional cream tea in a pub named after an animal... (ie. Red Lion, White Hart, Dog and Duck, the black bear... that's just my locals, you get the picture!)

After that it is when the trees turn green... baby livestock litter the countryside... colourful flowers begin to show... and the general consensus of British small talk (moaning) switches from how cold it is to hayfever...

I live in Winnipeg, so... fist-bump of self-pity?

Me personally, it starts when the first pitch is thrown of the MLB season. I live in South Carolina and it's usually pretty warm even in the winter/fall months, so to me the calendar dates of when seasons are supposed to start are irrelevant.

Also I wear basketball shorts and sandals just about year round. If you can get past all the racism, homophobia, bible-thumping, and rude ass retired people, South Carolina's not a bad place to be.

I live in New-Brunswick and I think that it's already summer. Usually, it starts when the Toronto Maple leafs are eliminated, but they are in the playoffs...so...Even if it's 22 Celsius outside, it's still winter.

Living in South-Western British Columbia, as I do, I've got to say that Spring usually starts early to mid March here.

(Currently it is sunny and clear with a projected high of 15-20 degress C)

Here in Belgium spring is the mathematical average of winter and summer. Two weeks ago it was summer, then we had a week of winter, now we're having a week of summer, next week...

Here in Scotland, the daffodils are coming out, and the trees are just breaking into leaf.

So I'd say Spring has definitely begun. While this is of course somewhat moveable due to weather, late April/Early May is pretty typical.
