Last time? Fallout: New Vegas. Really, I want to love it, but after I've apparently broke the main quest even after going through lots of annoyance to fix it, I just gave up. It was such a pain to get the Platinum Chip in the first place as I couldn't get into the Fort without getting swarmed by Legion dudes, which is an especially humongous pain when going into Caesar's tent (super-punching SPAM!). I eventually had to, well, I'd say exploit certain things to get it. And after all that I still couldn't do what I want. New Vegas, I am disappoint.
Before that I gave up on Need for Speed: Shift, the first proper race game I bought in ages. At first everything seemed fine, and it was one of the most adrenaline pumping experiences I ever had in a game. Then I broke my PS3 controller playing it (which I expertly fixed afterwards despite never opening one before /proud) and walked away from the game straight away. It'll be a looooong looooong time before I'll be playing that.
There have been quite a few more over the years as well; StarCraft, for getting my ass so royally handed to me in multi it was just...depressing; Dawn of War 2 thanks to GFWL's absolutely fucked up matchmaking system (I. want. LOBBIES!); Assassin's Creed 1 for being so horribly repetative (I adore 2 and Brotherhood though); Dead Space for not being even remotely scary (that and my save got deleted); Spore for just...just...*cries*; Unreal Tournament 3 for not being a worthy succesor to UT99; Mirror's Edge for grinding my teeth on some detection issues aaaaand...well probably some more but that's all I can remember right now.

Well, I'd say that the cover based shooting was the best that I've experienced in any game. Quite challenging and really engaging. You're right about the driving though, but as somewhat of a retro-head, I often actually took detours because I simply loved cruising through that 50's town with them 50's tunes. Despite all that I still was disappointed with it though. Hope L.A. Noir will make up for it.lobster1077 said:Mafia 2 springs to mind. Crikey, it's design and structure is just terrible; 90% of the game is just driving monotonously slowly across the entire map to trigger a handful of lacklustre missions.
