Thinking about the inevitable impending announcement of whatever half-baked crap Treyarch's working on, will likely sell 8M in a week. When will CoD's dominance end?

I don't think CoD has to 'change' per se. There isn't anything wrong with the formula in my opinion.

I just think it needs to go away for a while. Not forever, just for 5 years or so, and even then only do a new release every 2-3 years. I don't even mind if they fill out the time with endless DLC map-packs. We're just getting sick of the yearly releases.

Well, it's being said that COD:MW3 might has less longevity than COD:MW2/COD:BO. So, maybe in the next cycle they will change it up enough to sail on their boat load of cash once again!

Call of Duty will have to change when people stop buying it in huge numbers.

Good point, I guess there'll always be a top-selling franchise about that is to be reviled.

They aren't going to change a thing while they continue to break sales records.

Why should CoD have to change? Its not it's responsibility to change things up, as long as people want to keep buying it it only has to keep offering what they want. It'll stop being top dog when people eventually get bored with it, or something new and exciting comes out.

It will have to change when the people who purchase the game don't like the formula anymore.

I've purchased each Call of Duty that has ever existed (well, not the handheld versions but they don't count) and got into multi-player starting with Modern Warfare. Every CoD game I have purchased since then has been for the multi-player and I will continue to do these purchases until I start thinking it's stale (no matter who thinks I'm "retarded" for doing so).

It's a fun multi-player game and I will gladly pay $60 per year as long as it keeps being fun to me (and my friends who play; if they get bored and leave it's likely that I would also get bored and leave).

Someone better get those cupcakes then......

It will change when people stop buying every yearly release and every map pack without a second thought.

Remember Guitar Hero? With that in mind never... trollololol. Okay that's a bit obnoxious. Honestly I feel that infinity ward will try and fail at innovation while treyarch continues to make the most balanced cod possible until the series takes a nosedive.

Well, when people stop making it the fastest selling game each year. But I also am betting this era of FPS' is going to start coming to an end in the next generation, and we will get the next game that changes something up, becomes popular, and starts the trend of many companies copying it.

Never, with Activision pwning the heads of any upstart kickstarter (They can and they will). They simply consolidate all corporate power so that they will remain on top with "competition" coming from EA and UBIsoft.

And unlike Biodrones, the average CoD player doesn't care, they know everyone will die at the end.
