Be happy I'm not living anywhere near Yellowstone! I think North Carolina is far enough away that we'll escape the worst of it. If it gets too bad, I could get on a boat and head East, or south to the Caribbean.
Except for the whole "Ash covering the sun thing and polluting your drinking water and making it difficult to breathe oxygen" thing, yea, you should be fine.

Well the MAIN problem is going to be the collapse of infrastructure and food growth for a year or so, about 90% of the population CANNOT be supported without the regular deliveries from other countries of food, toys and fuel etc. The massive reduction in fuel and other goods would lead to drastic reductions in the amount of good deliveries to supermarkets, leading to a slow death for most of the population.

Instead of asking yourself, what will I do to ensure my survival for the first couple of weeks, ask yourself, where will my next meal this time next year come from?

It is entirely possible that there would be very little long term impact from such an eruption. The Toba eruption about 70,000 years ago was one of the largest eruptions of the Quaternary (from 2.5 mya to present), and has been linked with climate change and seen as the trigger for the penultimate ice age (Marine Isotope Stage 4). However, sedimentation analysis of the Toba ash in the context of climate indicators suggest that there was approximately 1,000 years of an interstadial event (warm bits between glacial events) after the eruption. (Schulz, H., Emeis, K. C., Erlenkeuser, H., von Rad, U. And Rolf, C. 2002. The Toba Volcanic Event and Interstadial/Stadial Climates at the Marine Isotopic Stage 5 to 4 Transition in the Northern Indian Ocean. Quaternary Research 57:22-31.).

It won't be as devastating as the fear-lovers make it out to be. At worst it will cause a "nuclear winter" for a year or so. In a modern society it's very manageable. But it won't have any world-ebdubg-type-esk affects.

Um, Its not going to be that bad. I'm going to be in an ash zone though. So here's what will happen for me on a regular post eruption day:
Get up
Put on cloths
put on face mask to protect myself from ash inhalation
bike to work/school through ash while avoid the piles of ash that was piled up on the side of the roads
eat food from a stock pile of ramen noodles and water when I get home.
play some skyrim.
Sleep

Tell everyone I know "Hey look on the bright side, the same place where our doom comes from, is the same place where Yogi the Bear comes from" followed by a "shut up" and cries of agony.

Odds of this Super Volcano erupting in my life time is slim.
So I just go about as business as usual.

Pretty much pray to the God-Emperor and hope he protects that day...

OT: I really don't know, just hope it doesn't go off during my time on this little marble or if it does pray that it's not the end of life. Sorry to sound like a nah-sayer, I'm just a paranoid git when it comes to stuff like this sometimes.

No used being a worrywart about it.
Yup, this is the attitude I'm holding. It's future Sam's problem so I don't need to deal with it right now, there are far more pressing dangers I don't care about so Yellowstone isn't on my mind.

Buy weapons and ammunition, stock up as much nonperishable foodstuff as I can get my hands on. Stock up as much water as possible. Wait for the inevitable collapse of social order or join said collapse. Otherwise enjoy my time while I still have it.

^^^ This is my worse case plan.

Proceed to instantly die. I live roughly an hours drive away from Yellowstone, in southern Montana.

I plan on taking my pump-action water filter bottle, a coat over a few layers with some gloved and duct tape to seal the outfit around the gas mask. Then, I'm going to a friends house and if he's still alive, join them, if not, raid the weapon stash. I'll go around, scavenging what I can while I set to travel to better climate. Current location: East coast, north GA.

Ash Showers? Another ice age? Mate, I live in Wales, any change in the weather here would be an improvement =p

Majority of the world? Really? How?

I know that supervolcanoes would produce a lot of ash. But that seems like a joke.

I'll just kick back and watch the world end I suppose.
We can't stop it from exploding, so... yeah. If it explodes it explodes.

Is it really in danger of blowing anytime soon? Cause if not then I'll just continue with my regularly scheduled programming
The Regular Schedule for the Yellowstone Volcano is: We're way past due for an explosion... So yeah, it can happen at any time, and probably soon...
